My Imperial Stout is 3.5 weeks old, 1.5 weeks in the keg on some Elijah Craig and Med toast oak chips. All the sudden it has a strong chemical smell, my sister thinks acetone, I was thinking paint thinner or fingernail polish remover. There was no hint of this at all in the samples I pulled from the fermenter. What is going on and will it eventually go away?

Nevermind, found the culprit. Bought a new tap, QD, and beer line for that keg and the aroma is from that. Hooked up an old line and it is back to normal.

I was just going to suggest that that tap was your culprit.

Pond pump with liquid out post recirculating strong Oxy, then same again with water, then Iodophor. I didn't do that with the new ones though, quick rinse and Starsan.

Can't say I've heard of them before. Looks like they have a few different types too.

All the tubing I own is Foxx. Haven't had the issues above, but then again, I bought one big ass lot of it because it was on sale and haven't bought tubing in two years. Maybe some lot to lot variation.
