You're the first I've heard to call bottles of V016 garbage (admittedly, I don't scour the web for reviews or check in on these forums a whole lot so I might have missed a bunch of others who agree with you). Mine were all great, as were my buddies who all got bottles. Maybe some were bad though?

I've had only 1 bottle so far, but a description I read someone else wrote was pretty accurate - mildly fruited seltzer water. I think that is the complaint.

I will say that my bottles were also sletzer water with minimal fruit presence. I told myself I wouldn't by another lost Abbey release, but I caved and decided to give them one more chance.

    FYP... haha

I didn't think it was bad. It wasn't as big on the fruit as I had expected. I'm letting mine sit for a while to see what happens. It's not like I'm going to miss out on much fruit.

I think it's more of a bummer because of the price point. At $41+tax a bottle, it has to be outstanding. Anything less than outstanding... I'm hesitant to spend $41 per bottle again. So, no Ad Idem for me...

How about paying $100 for a 3L of Symmetric Orchestra, a kettle sour? I thought that was interesting.

first I recoil at price, then I remember how much I pay for wine, then I remember it's not wine, but it's also not just a beer... so ... conflicted

I'm very supportive of other people boycotting.

I'm curious why it's still available. Perhaps because Wicked Weed can't sell bottles on their side? Stone fruit sours (especially peach) are the hot commodity right now. Not to mention The Lost Abbey consistently over charges for their bottles yet Veritas, Duck Duck Geuze, and Cable Car don't have a problem selling. This coupled with the fact that Wicked Weed is talented at producing sours confuses me. Are people finally putting their foot down on The Lost Abbey and Port Brewing? If this is the case I better not see Churchill's Finest Hour sell out in seconds if it costs as much as it did last year for their online sale. Just sayin'.

because lost abbey has shit pricing and on something that no one has actually had, it's often that it sells a little slower. My black parade took a couple of hours to sell and that was basically a Hunaphu style stout, right?

They really need to realize not everything they make is gold and with plenty of other options, the market won't buy in to it as easily anymore

But it's a really big bottle!!! And it was CAREFUL Kettle Souring... then aged (from what I read).

I think this one went largely under the radar until very recently & pretty pricey for a short notice splurge. It also sounds like they have probably double the inventory due to something blocking them from letting WW sell bottles. All that coupled with the letdown of V016 (which I still think is pretty solid) is probably letting this stick around. I can't make it that weekend otherwise I'd probably grab 2-4x.

High price, single day pickup sessions (ugh) and LA has been kind of hit or miss in recent year. I'll take a sip of someone else's and not risk my $45 on a maybe.

Does anyone know if they are allowing proxies for this ? My buddy on the east coast wants a few but wanted him to use his CC to purchase and just have me pick up.

There's no mention of this anywhere on any of the posts I've seen.

At the last DDG release, Tomme Arthur was personally checking people's ID's and making them take their sunglasses off so he could look them in the eyes and make sure it was actually them. I have a feeling Lost Abbey won't be allowing proxies anytime soon...

I didn't see anything specific about it but in the past, they definitely match your ID with your order.

I agree with people most likely being hesitant to go all in on a hugely expensive beer with no track record after flops like V16 and Sede Vecante. People really only like to spend that kind of change if they know the beer is awesome or, unfortunately, if there's a ton of trade value buzz behind the release. DDG, Cable Car have this, Ad Idem does not.
