So I've been making my way through a case of Adam Batch 81. The beer is simply incredible. AftW has jumped to the top of wants list. Any insight to what one of these bottles has been going for? It's 12oz bottle correct? Cheers!
Why wouldn't a brewery only release of about 1000 bottles be able to pull a beer released in multiple states?
It's a little tough to gauge. There were a few thousand bottles released of AftW this past November, but the last release before then was 10 years ago. There was a case limit per person so people got decent quantities, but there were under 100 people who got those cases. There was enough that people are drinking them rather than hoarding, but there don't seem to be that many Portland regular traders (who don't only deal with established trade partners). It's not a whale but it may take a really good offer to pry some from someone, especially if you're looking for more than one (which lots of people do). Logistics-wise, it's 12 oz bottles that were $15 a piece.
It was closer to 1,700 than "a few thousand." I traded one for CBS, another for 8xKBS, and a few for a bunch of Cantillons (including Fou' Foune).
I'm going to say this if the right offer comes along the people that got them have shared the AFTW. A generous Ba traded my buddy 2 AFTW for 2 BEATIFICATIONS. And my buddy sent me 1 of the AFTW thanks to both of the generous Ba's Post an offer if they like it or are interested they will respond
By a few thousand I meant I didn't remember the exact number, wanted to say about 80 people got a case (1920 bottles), but wasn't sure so went with a vague number...unlike the three people who have posted numbers so far in this thread, all of which are different
Well, to be fair with my post, I forgot Adam FtW was sold in cases of 24. My brain went into auto drive with 12. There's somewhere between 60-80 cases of Adam FtW floating around, but no official numbers.
There are several issues when trading for a limited beer from Portland. 1. Many people in Portland actually drink their beer rather than trade them. 2. There are so many beers that get released in PDX, that traders get burned out. 3. Of those that trade in PDX (3 or 4 is a number that has been used) they have a lot of regulars that they hook up. 4. Adam FTW is an incredible beer (BA score of 99) that last saw distribution 11 years ago. It sold out in less than an hour this time. Based on that alone, it will be a hard beer to get.
Adam from the Wood is an amazing beer. Good luck to anyone trying to snag a bottle it worth the hassle!
Thanks all. This feedback gives a wonderful frame of reference for a potential ISOFT. I can almost taste it
i'm from the PDX area and while i love drinking our awesome beers i don't mind trading, i have AftW for people looking for it =)
AFTW is so stupidly delicious it takes beer similarly rare and equally tasty to get it. I got one of mine for a Luscious, the other 2 for a CL CdC and a Rosso. Hope this helps.
