When was the most recent release and what was the price per bottle?

Thanks all, I was just quoted $59 for two bottles, and was struggling to understand where that figure came from.

Is someone selling them to you? I would pay that in a heartbeat. Its only been released twice in the past 11 years or so and is delicious!

Nah, I'd be trading limited beers as well.

Have a mini-vert in the cellar, don't mind if I do!

I had a regular trading partner look around in portland for me for a bottle. He found one in one of the expensive shops for $26. It definitely gets expensive in bottle shops around the area. I was willing to pay it (in beer obv) but YMMV. The difference of $10 to try a big want wasn't really a big deal to me and I know my buddy isn't profiteering...

And knowingly "doubling your price back" seems shadier than quoting a high price in the first place...

I would string him along for a nice five-page negotiation, expand the trade more and more, offer bottles at prices too good to be true...then right before you share your address you say "sorry, just won a trade with someone else, maybe we could set something up in the future, cheers!"

I obviously wouldn't actually do that. There's no scenario I can theorize that would make lying about the price of a beer worth it...

    ...except perhaps this one.

Not when the first price is double what it sells for

It was at Apex Beer Bar (may still be) for awhile at $26 or $28/bottle. That is not too bad for a bar that let's you carry out. It is $25 to drink one at HotD. That all said, I still think of these as worth the original selling price when trading.

Stores send people to the brewery to buy allotments and then jack up the price at their store

Therefore, secondary market prices are much higher (but not completely unreasonable for someone who doesn't have other options that wants the beer)

Yeah, it is. And if you can't see that I certainly wouldn't want to trade with someone like you...
