Adding a Little Panache to Beer Reviews

    It should have some humor if that is what the write wants to give it. I am very much put off my reviews made by someone who is clearly training to better evaluate beer. Don't you dare say it smells like tangelo and also clementine.

    Honestly, I gotta "feel" it to want to write something witty or humorous. I rarely do probably because yes, there's a degree of seriousness to this. Me, respecting the hard work of brewers, I don't want them to think I'm some asshat off the streets just writing whatever he wants.

    I was funnier on another site when I was traipsing through the U.P. of Michigan. Good luck to anyone finding that clownish shit I used to write.

    They can be both. I'm a funny guy in conversation, but my humor often doesn't translate to the written (or typed) word. That's one of the reasons I tend to Joe Friday my reviews.

    I look at reviews as a description of the beer. If you can be funny and get to the point that is always good. Sometimes I will twist something up a bit to be more informative or add some humor, but for the most part I try to just do quick in depth descriptions of the beer.
