How about giving the ability to reply to ONLY the person who posts the trade? This shouldn't be difficult to program. This way, the trade thread owner can modify the thread (via replies) to inform potential trade partners that things have changed or updated (i.e. number and/or choice of bottles/cans in ISO:FT and IP). A further benefit would be that the Watch Thread utility would be useful again, for trading (currently it is not, since no new posts are allowed in the thread, thus nothing to watch). People would be less apt to re-post in 72 hour window (trading rule that is violated) if they could notify the people watching their threads that the offer is improved. Additionally, the trade thread owner could reply to the thread that the trade is now closed, completed, or request for deletion by moderator (and then report it so the moderator can see the deletion request).

There's really no need for this 'feature'.

The deleting and editing rules are in place for a reason.

Once you make your post, you're stuck with it after the 30 minute editing window. You're responsible for the content and you should put more than a passing thought into your posts.

Any ability to edit eventually gets abused as bump and we're not interested in entertaining that. The "watch thread" option you're suggesting actually encourages that to the detriment of other users who may not use it or who are thoughtful enough to make a proper ISO:FT post.

Reposts in the 72 hour window are more and more often going to receive warnings. If people can't obey simple rules, they'll lose the ability to use the trade forums.

    Bottom line: No.
