I keep finding more and more. Please be careful when adding a beer. Double check your search to make sure it's not already listed. I know the Bros list specific instructions when adding a beer, but it's getting sloppy lately - too many duplicate listings of the same beer. (Rant over). Cheers! = )

Thanks for pointing this out, it is appreciated by those of us that have to process all of the changes. Rest assured there seems to always be a large queue of duplicates that need processing but they are being handled (albeit slower than anyone would like but they are kind of time consuming to process).

Thank you! You mean they don't just magically go away on their own? I just added 4 more to your queue.

As of today, is the queue still large enough to still include beers reported 3+ weeks ago (probably a month)?

    1. Yes, people are quite sloppy and lazy.... I just reported a dupe for Victory DirtWolf... Someone just added a new beer last month as Dirt Wolf.... Really?

It happens all the time - I see new entries for Hopslam every year...

It's too bad the system can't identify certain beers that have been already flagged as a duplicate and warn/prevent the user from adding it.
I "reported" left hand milk stout nitro (it actually had 3 total entries for this one) and it was eventually merged with the regular milk stout. I see it has once again been added.

In this case I don't see a problem with the base and nitro version being listed separately. And no I am not the one adding it.:grinning:
I do like the idea of the system somehow identigying the beers that have duplicates from previous attempts.

I don't either, but to quote Todd:

    "
    Cask-Conditioned Offerings/Nitro Beers
    • Cask-conditioned and nitro are serving types, not beer styles.
    • Don't list a separate entry for an existing beer brand.

It seems that is what they feel it should be.

I know, but imo this seems to be in reference to offerings at a bar and not those that are bottled/canned with nitro, however I could be wrong (just ask my wife ).

I know I'm a month late on this thread, but this is a big pet-peeve of mine. It came to my attention (again) most recently with Beer Camp. Almost all of the Beer Camp beers have duplicate entries. Then, I noticed that quite a few from past years do as well. Then, I noticed that Southern Hemisphere Harvest Ale is listed 3 or 4 times. There are quite a few other entries I've noticed too. I love the above suggestion for creating a system to flag a beer though I'm sure there are other modifications that are prescient.

To get in on the Nitro issue, Old Chub NITRO is also now included.

I'm not a very organized person, but for whatever reason I get OCD about beer listings. Anyways, thanks for letting me in on the rant.

Quite the mess. Part laziness, part folks not understanding how to name a beer.

I remember when this happened. I remember being disappointed my review of the nitro version (i.e. the uniquely branded and marketed serving type) was deleted literally within minutes after your thread went up. Can't we find a way to merge reviews without destroying users' contributions sans any advance notice?

I'm as nitpicky about adding beers' names and designations properly as anybody. (STOP WRITING PART OF THE NAME OF A BEER AS "IPA" WHEN THE LABEL CLEARLY SAYS "INDIA PALE ALE" !).

But eliminating reviews from one minute to the next is more likely to vex contributing members than it is to correct future beer-adding behaviour.
