I used to think I was a definite no on fruit in beer. My theory was that if need to "fruit" the beer, it tastes bad and you are covering for a poor beer with fruit flavor. However, i recently was picking a few blackberries with my kid and on a whim plunked a few into my Franziskaner. It was delicious! The best part was the beer soaked berrys in the bottom of my glass.

My question is; does anyone have any berry/beer combinations worth trying?

The Leinenkugel's invited me to try some of their Lemon Berry Shandy... I'll keep you posted.

The lemon berry shandy is good stuff. Very sweet but solid. What I liked about the fresh blackberries in the beer was was the tartness. Still along the same line of thought just not as sweet

I do enjoy a shandy or two... did you get much sweetness at all from the berries?

not really, but the blackberries i grow arent very sweet. Adding your own berries give the beer the flavor of whatever type you add. It was a really good combination.

French press Sour in the Rye with whatever is fresh and in season. Here in SoCal we've been getting great peaches and nectarines, strawberries and the like. I look at it like using honey or fig spread with cheese, it's there not to necessarily cover anything up, but to help enhance things that might not be as apparent upon first tasting.
