I could probably figure this out, but I'm crappy at math, so I figured I would see if any of you have insight you could offer.

I brewed an imperial stout (5gl batch) and am going to add vanilla beans soaked in brandy (and the brandy) in the secondary. It is 4oz of brandy at 80 proof. Is this going to noticeably affect my ABV and, if so, how much would it change?

It seems like 5 out of 640 oz wouldn't budge it much, but I thought I would check. Thanks!

[4*40 + 640*(ABV) ]/[4+640] = new ABV. For example a 10% RIS = 10.2%. Seeing as your hydrometer readings have a greater level of error associated with the measurement, I wouldn't stress about it.
