When I first joined BA the initial attraction was the use of the Places feature when I traveled. 16 years later, it’s still a great asset for traveling along with the geographic forums. Currently, I’m island hopping in Hawaii. Hawaii, like all the states is broken down under Places by city. I think it would be useful to have it broken down also by island. Keep the city lists, but also have an island list which breaks down to a city list for that island. Do other’s think this would be a good feature?

At first glance, I don't think we have enough listings are activity to support this.

I don't know anything about Hawaii....but would each island have its own zip code? Can you just search by zip code to get a similar result?

I started doing that when the nearby map feature went away. Search by city or state and then Ctrl+F by zip code within the results list

Yes, you can search by zip code.!Each island does not have its own zip code. Hawaii has 94 zip codes. Grouping by island makes for a logical user experience.

I'm going to need more explanation on this. When I have the first page of the results for all Michigan breweries on screen and hit Ctrl+F nothing happens.

Hit Crtl+F, then type in whatever you're interested in searching for. For example, if I go to the Missouri page, filter on breweries, and search for either "640" or "641", I'll see all the brewery listings that are local to me by scrolling through the results (the details of going through within-page search results vary by browser/platform).

Ctrl-F (“find”) just opens search menu in your browser

Use Google Maps and search for Breweries by Island. Then copy/paste the breweries to BA search window.
BTW, I use Google maps photos for brewery research all the time. Random visitor photos tell you a lot more than brewery websites.

    The 640 & 641 are area codes?

I'm going to have to play around with this search feature. Whether it works may be dependent on the version of Windows. My old desktop, on which I was trying earlier when I made my first post, uses Windows 8.1 (I don't use it for much anymore) but my laptop, on which I just tried using the search, uses Windows 10, and I did get a search box.

Thanks to both of you for the help.

Or the “Maps” App on any APPLE product. I just navigate to the area in question and enter “Brewery” and the map populates with a bunch of breweries. The downside, is that I do like to see what BA has to say about them. Being able to search BeerAdvocate’s database, by area code is a boon, IMO.
