Not that it would be easy, but can you do this? Transfer un-carbonated bottles to a barrel?

What are the two issues? Sanitation and oxidation. Would it be all that hard to make a device with a stopper and an out? Push it out like a lot of people do w/a carboy cap?

Or I've heard that you can reboil beer. It's used to stop bugs. Just dump it too a kettle, reboil to drive off the oxygen (which I don't think that it would), chill and drain to barrel.

Not sure of the results, but I know that this can be done. I've heard of someone oaking Westy's. I don't think it's a myth.

It will get oxidized all to hell. Also, what kind of barrel could be filled with just a few bottles?

Don't boil your beer, you will drive off the alcohol and a lot of the aroma.

    I am so confused.

Well I know of a huge number of bottles of a very good beer that are totally flat. Not mine. Just thinking out loud.

I'm pretty sure that Chad Yakobson has talked about re-boiling beer. Maybe I missed the context, I'll listen to it again.

Labor and oxidation would be a concern. But if you purge the barrel just like most production houses do and make a closed transfer, it might be minimized.

As I said I'm just thinking out-loud. Starting to think that I shouldn't of.

Just get a funnel, some chicks, roll of plastic sheet and baby oil and I think it will all work out.

After reflecting about what you first posted and what people actuality saw I was okay. Then you took up another effort and I was a bit confuddeled

Then I saw you post in "Finally got some Nelson Sauvins...now what?" and got it.

No worries. May your next beer be your best,

FWIW it's been confirmed. There is someone in Belgium basically doing this with carbonated bottles of Westvleteren. I'll try to find out more on my next trip.
