Adroit Theory Brewing is opening their doors this Saturday (2/1). Their facebook posted: "You've seen pics of people enjoying our beers, and have wondered where to get your own. This Saturday, the wait is over. After ribbon cutting at 11am, we will be open from 12-6pm with tasters, pints, growlers and bottles to go. So, who wants some Adroit Theory beer?" https://www.facebook.com/AdroitTheory I'd love to try a their B/A/Y/S regular and Brandy. If anyone is going this weekend we could workout a trade or something to that effect. I'm a little too far away to be there!
I looked at their website and it's still under construction. You have a link where I can purchase them?
I realize that Adroit Theory is doing some really interesting and innovative stuff, which of course means higher production costs. But good lord, is their beer expensive! $12 for a half-bomber and $30 for a growler?? Has anyone had a chance to try any yet? Is it worth it?
I had their B/A/Y/S and Bourbon Barrel B/A/Y/S -- I think between $7 and $7.25 is the right price point for the BA variety. The beer is good. $12 is pricey, but the AT guys are very friendly; they run a very small operation; and they're local. There are worse things you could spend $12 on. This thread is probably going to be moved to the regional forums. Edit: Yep
And, of course, the brewery is closer to MD and DC than it is 85% of VA. So, this thread isn't likely to gain most traction in the South-Atlantic forum. Wish BA would just cut VA in half for the purposes of their regional forums.
I picked up one of each off of their website. I'm all for supporting local breweries and as C20 said, there are worse things I've wasted money on.
I think it's a solid brew. As people have said I'd say in the $8 range would work, but ordering online they make you buy 2 plus shipping ends up being about $35 for 750ml...
no need to cut VA in half, just move it to Mid-Atlantic as it should be. beer groups seem to be the only places that consider VA to be south-eastern...
This, I live in NoVA and am from Richmond, I hate having to check two forums to keep up with both places.
I'm interested in what they have to offer at the brewery. I had the opportunity to try a couple different bottles and wasn't overly impressed but with time I think they will be alright. What they are doing with the memberships, barrel-aging is what VA has needed for quite some time now! Cheerz mah beer loving brethren !!
I really enjoyed the B/A/Y/S and i think the brandy version would have been great with a little more time on it. If it had a slightly thicker mouth feel then it would be perfect, just a little too thin. Great beer though and I'm excited VA is finally getting a brewery with goods we might can trade with haha.
