    Hi everyone,

Earlier this month I opened my first trade thread and immediately found two partners. One of the trades went off without a hitch (aside from some weather delayed shipping) but the other has been in limbo for a couple of weeks and I'm looking for advice. This was my first time trading, and I did what I thought was right (shipping first, being quick, trying to communicate often, etc.) but I'm beginning to worry. *EDIT* I should also note that this guy has a perfect trading record, so I didn't think I was getting myself into a bad situation.

Here's the way things have played out...

Trade partner messaged me asking if I'd be interested on 2/5/15. Exchanged addresses that same day. Dropped off my package on 2/9/15 with tracking number which was confirmed as received on 2/11/15 by trader.

Trade partner said he was busy and promised a tracking number on 2/11/15 then went silent until 2/17/15 when he apologized for the delay and confirmed the package was headed my way. Since then, I've heard nothing from him and sent two messages asking for a tracking number or anything other information.

I keep hoping to see the package show, but something isn't sitting well with me. I've checked his latest activity, and he is certainly on the forums.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

If he's on the forum, knows that you're concerned, and haven't responded to your messages or sent you a tracking number, it's been a week since the last contact, I say tag him here and let him explain his side of the story.

ETA: I hope you have a trade request opened/accepted for this trade.

Tag him, let him explain himself. If he has time to check forums, he has time to respond to you.

Yep. This is getting ridiculous. I'm getting soooo much less tolerant of this lack of communication.

New (somewhat general) rule for me: if you've got someone's beer in hand, and you don't ship or communicate with your trade partner for a 72 hour period, you're on my DNT list. When I get a box, one of the first things I do is get on BA and say thank you. Typically I've already shipped, but if not, I also tell the person when I'm going to. And then I follow that up with a tracking number.

OP, time to out him I'm afraid.

Is he in the Northeast? The weather here has been horrible and can't send anything for some time. (Trying to give the benefit of the doubt).

OP....you can also sign up for FedEx and UPS to notify you anytime there is a package being delivered to your house (you don't need the tracking #). It will eliminate the "it's on the way" but really is not on the way situations.

Thanks for all the advice. I sent a firm message this AM and am giving him the chance to respond once more (he hasn't been on the forums yet today) before I post his name here.

@mythaeus I sent a trade request, but he has yet to accept. Does that mean I am unable to leave feedback? (assuming he doesn't ever accept)

@Moc513 He's on the West Coast...and thanks for the heads up about FedEx/UPS piece. I will certainly check that out.

That's exactly what that means, unfortunately...always wait for the other BA to accept before shipping.

Yikes...So the BA received your beer, hasn't shipped yours yet, hasn't communicated, and has time to peruse the boards. Is there really a "logical" reason that he could say that would warrant this kind of action?? Besides a firm apology and a tracking# for your beer.

If he doesn't respond by tomorrow morning, you need to tag him in this thread or release the user's name. Perfect trade record or not, this is definitely someone I wouldn't want to deal with and surely not a way to set an example to a new trader.

    just a word of advice...

don't ship unless both parties accept the trade request.

in this case, out him. you're being taken advantage of and he deserves public shaming.

Thanks to all for the advice. I was planning on outing the trader, only to log onto BA this morning and find a new message from him apologizing, citing a move as his reason (could be) and giving me a tracking number. I'm wary of course, and will obviously keep monitoring the situation. I'll update here as things happen.

If the tracking # doesn't show being dropped off today or tomorrow, I would out him....you can only be strung along so much.

Since you can create a tracking # without ever giving FedEx a box, definitely keep tabs on it so you can resolve the situation as quick as possible.

    @murduck88 Seriously???
So he gets your beer. Drinks it while perusing the site. Relocating makes him box up your beer you sent and while packing up his other stuff, decides to crack open another one of your beers you sent. Moves into new place and celebrates drinking another of the beers you sent. In the mean time, nothing triggers the brain cells that this beer came from Minnesota and wasn't free or left on his porch as a house warming gift. Finally it hits them (sarcasim) that there is a news flash of a bad trader thread started, so lets now communicate and finish up on the agreed trade. Yikes
    ..

Please BM me the trader's name

^^this. It seems the only reason he finally communicated was because he somehow got wind of this thread

Box has been dropped off and is on it's way - expected delivery tomorrow. I have asked that he accept my trade request, and he has assured me that he will. I am waiting to see about the package and his acceptance of the request in order to leave proper feedback. Have there been similar situations where someone gets "scared" into shipping, makes good on the situation, and then is still outed on here? I understand people wanting to steer clear of trading with this guy after he pulls a stunt like this but I am hoping he accepts the trade request so I can leave appropriate feedback. (I realize I made the mistake of shipping before he accepted the trade request, so maybe I'm out of luck in regards to that...)

I will (hopefully) have this whole thing resolved by tomorrow.

I am the guy he's talking about. I'm here not to kiss anyone's ass, but to admit to being late on this trade. I will not let someone make me out to be someone I am not. Shits been hectic the last couple weeks and I was not able to get this done in a timely fashion. At no point was I not thinking of sending out this package. I share this account with a friend who is not a big trader but uses my account and my history to get trades done every blue moon. So I was not on this website while I owed this guy his beer it was my buddy. I've aplogiZed to this man. the trade was for 4x abrasive for 2xpliny. I offered him 3 instead and to make up for time lost I sent him 5 with overnight shipping. I will also still except his trade offer so he can post a negative feedback if he likes. I'm not losing sleep over it at all. I have great trade feedback and great trading partners. So if your looking to trash my name good luck. I have 5 trades pending. I explained and gave apologies to all of them with one negative response. Every other person was sympathetic to the situation at hand. So whoever would like To block me, not trade with me, let it go, or whatever the fuck your feeling go ahead. Shit happens. Once again my sincere apologies. Enjoy your package. For being two weeks behind I feel I have done what I have needed to do to right this situation.
