If you like summer fest from SN, go for some Czech Pilseners. Staropramen, pilsner urquell, Czech rebel. There are a lot of good domestic offerings as well.

thanks for all the input...i have quite a list to go off of now. those that mentioned new glarus, i used to have a buddy in rockford illinois that brought me tons of their product...two women, hometown blonde, and totally naked represent some of my fondest beers in my "beery" category...tasty, easy drinking, and goes with everything or stands alone. would love to get some jacks abby, sixpoint, and so many more of your recommendations. again, thx for all the help.

One of my all-time favorites! I'd argue (shields self from the stoning about the ensue) that PU is better than 95%+ of American craft beer on tap/shelves right now. I've dreamed of tasting PU out of the lagering tanks.

I wouldn't go that far, myself, but I sure would like to be there at those lagering tanks as well.

No shame in liking what you like. But the OP is looking for something similar to SN Summerfest. And those are nothing like SN Summerfest.

Another vote for Dortmunder Gold. That's one of the first that comes to mind when I think "this beer tastes like....well....beer."

ahhh, "beery," you prob noticed i put it in quotes due to my own difficulty in wrapping my brain around the taste profile. it is simply the comforting taste of yeast, malt, hops, and water crafted by an expert artist. it is not a hop bomb, a dark charred roasty stout, or a yeasty funky saison, though i like those, too. it is more of a deconstructed, basic two women, summerfest, weihenstephaner, bells amber, etc. brew that is rich in flavor but so drinkable anytime a "beer" is wanted. you guys have given me so many beers to look up and explore...thanks so very much. that's why i love this site.

Chiming in again - not so much for the OP as just for anyone who hasn't tried it.

Sly Fox's Chester County Bitter is, to me, a brew that I'd consider the epiphany of a "beery" beer. For lack of a better description, it's just the flavor I kind of expected beer to taste like back before I'd ever even heard of an IPA or a stout. And it's a style that I largely ignored when I first started drinking. But years later, when I had that one, I just went "huh...I think this is what I expected beer to taste like". And it's terrific. Sadly, I'm pretty sure it's still only a cask-only offering, so it's not the most widely available of Sly Fox's offerings.

This is where opinions will differ mightily. PU (love that abbreviation) is one of the worst beers out there, IMHO. But, there's a reason we all don't like the same stuff!

As far as widely distributed beers. Sn kellerweis, Sam Adams noble pils, hoegarden wit, and yuengling summer wheat. Those four have been a staple in my fridge all summer. As far as not widely distributed. Terrapins golden ale, and hi-5. Sweetwater's take two pils, and water keeper.
