Hello all, I'd like to get some advice on an IP trade situation. I have an IP trade set up with a user and we exchanged numbers and entered into a trade agreement. I'm one of those guys that'd like to share a beer and make the most of an IP trade but the other party said they wanted to just make a quick exchange and I was fine with it.

On 2 separate occasions I agreed to meet up even driving to the guy's work to make the trade happen on his time. I did ask him if he could keep the beer cold in his fridge at work instead of leaving it in his car and got no response but we still agreed to meet up at his work. He never sent me an address and never followed up until 3 weeks later sending me 3 consecutive texts of :

    "Sooooo."
    "LMAO"
"We calling this thing or what."

I was ok with the trade earlier and even coming to meet him but, now this kind of communication bugs me. 3 weeks later the guy hits me up and with this kind of talk? It's borderline disrespectful given I was trying to make the situation convenient for the guy. Thoughts?

What was his explanation for the earlier attempts by you?

It's definitely bizarre. I too would like to know why he didn't respond and what's up with the spotty communication. I very much dislike dealing with sketchy characters so I'd like a bit of clarification myself if we indeed did proceed with the trade.

I'd say ask him about his lack of communication 3 weeks prior, and his response to that should help you decide were to go next.

I wouldn't think anything of it. People are weird. As long as he sticks with the trade, I would just get it done. I would ignore his stupid response and respond with "Yes, of course. Lets do it. when can I meet you at your work location?" See what I did there? diffuse the situation and imply that you have an agreement on meeting at work. Why fuel drama? Diffuse it. Don't add to the fire. Too many people doing that. Be the better person.

Murder him. Pull his teeth and dump the body in a septic tank. By the time you have distributed his teeth into your grandfather’s wood chipper the body will have already started liquify.

Trust me, you don’t get a 100% trade approval record for leaving bodies around where anyone can find them.

I mean that situation would work if the other guy said "hey are we still on?" But he didn't, he said we calling this thing or what?. To me that means is this deal done, not going to happen. If it's something you really want, do it, but make him make the effort as you seem to already put in the effort from before. If it were me I would have just said f it and said yeah let's just call it, good bye.

I wouldn't let someone off the hook that easily. I am just suggesting that if the other guy wants to "spin" the trade as not going anywhere, I would flip it on him with a nice way of proposing how to wrap it up (and not feeding into his attempt to get out of it). If you respond with anything about the prior messaging, lack of communication, blah blah, you just give more reason not to get the deal done.

On the other hand, if the trade isn't a great trade for me and i'm just helping someone out (and dont care about the other guy following through with the trade), I would just acknowledge and walk away nicely. To me, the response depends on how important it is to the OP to get the trade done.

Thanks for the advice. And for all the advice out here. Im a pretty busy guy so 2 attempts at an IP trade with me being accomodating is all the effort I want to put into this. One of the mods said just best to let it go. Again thanks all, every other IP trade has been a pleasant experience... this guy appears like a new trader.

Thank you too for your take. This is clearly not a reflection of other traders on this site. He appears to be new.

So did he have a reason for the poor communication?
