My carpenter started work on my roof in the heat wave this week. He likes DFH 60 Minute, so obviously some 60 Minute is in his future. But the BA in me can't just do that...and IPAs are not a throng suite for me.

I will ask for some advice to put together a sampler including beers similar to 60 Minute and some contrasting styles. Nothing of extreme. I already know he will be getting some Hoponious Union!

Keep in mind I am in MA and am no Captain Ahab...

    Thanks in advance.

    Do you get Flower Power?

If you can get Crooked Tree IPA from Dark Horse that's an outstanding one.

Don't know if they distribute that far east, but if you want just a really solid IPA that represents the style well without being huge, Big Sky IPA is probably the best one that I've had so far.

Dunno about distribution but GLBC Commodore Perry, ST 2XIPA, and Victory HopDevil would be some comparable brews.

Looks like you get Founders. Try their Centennial IPA and perhaps their All Day IPA (I dislike the latter, but others seem to love it). Also, I can confirm the above poster's Southern Tier 2XIPA and Victory recommendations. They do distribute there and they're very good. Looks like no Great Lakes, unfortunately.

Nice gesture sir. Don't know exactly what you have access to so, keeping it simple...
    Bell's Two Hearted Ale
    Sierra Torpedo
    Stone IPA
step it up with a DFH 90 min
With contrast in mind and it being summer, give the guy a saison. Boulevard Tank 7 is awesome, also Brooklyn Sorachi Ace.
For some reason Dale's pale ale comes to mind. It's a nice hoppy pale ale in a can!

Assuming he is not a BA but knowing he likes 60 minute DFH and you are in MA and want something easily available to you and want to possibly show him some new beer in that style

    Oskar Blues Dales Pale Ale
    Firestone Walker Union Jack
    Lagunitas IPA
    Mayflower IPA
    Sierra Nevada Torpedo
    Oskar Blues Deviant dales
Put these in a six pack for me and I'd be a happy roofer

    Good call on the Hoponious. Ones I like that are available in MA are;

    Smuttynose Finest Kind
    Stone Ruination
    Firestone Walker Union Jack
    Ithaca Flower Power
    Victory Hopdevil
    Dark Horse Crooked Tree
    Founders Centennial
    Sierra Nevada Torpedo
    Baxter Stowaway IPA
    Wormtown Be Hoppy
    Cambridge Brewing Flower Child
    Lagunitas Hop Stoopid
    Lagunitas Little Sumpin' Sumpin'
Lagunitas New Dogtown Pale Ale (Like a lighter, more muted Sucks)
    Green Flash West Coast IPA
Green Flash Hop Head Red Ale
    Maine Beer Lunch
    Maine Beer MO
    Bear Republic Racer 5
    Wachusetts Larry

...and when in season; Sucks, Celebration, and Founders Harvest Ale!

Some good ideas so far! I like the idea of slipping in a Saison. Tank 7 and Sorachi Ace are both around here. Bell's doesn't make it east, unfortunately. Always forget Mayflower...my own back yard, more or less. Not sure about Oskar Blue...will check. Keep 'the ideas coming! I'll just write them all down and go shopping.

We will get him down from the roof first, I think. Brutal day here yesterday...about a buck- ten on the concrete patio where I was. Can't imagine thirty feet up on black shingles...just figure that deserves a little extra.

Let me just say that I think you're awesome for doing this and showing him such appreciation that he deserves. I should have mentioned that in my first post here. You're clearly a good guy; keep on paying it forward!

I thought they didn't distribute to MA. If they do, someone misinformed me on my last Boston trip and I am now pissed.
