Hey Florida locals, perhaps you could advise. I am staying in Palm City over christmas (not for the first time) and want to fit in as many as beercentric good times as I can. I am planning to make a trip south and hit Funky Buddha (probably brewery in Oakland Park rather than the lounge, unless you want to advise me differently!), Tequesta, and Due South. What are other breweries I shouldn't miss in these general environs?

Also bars and particularly, stores. I'm tired of getting beer at Total Wine in Stuart every time I'm down there. Is there some place relatively close that is more likely to have the limited or at least more interesting local releases, to say nothing of fresher beer? I know about longneck in Stuart but haven't had an opportunity to visit yet.

Thanks in advance for any help you can supply!

You should check out Vine and Barley in Palm City, House of Brews and Castaways Gastropub in Jensen Beach. There is also Sailfish Brewing in Ft. Pierce.

Between the plans you already have laid out and the suggestions from valrxman everything is pretty much covered. My wife grew up in Palm City and I have spent a lot of time there in the last decade. My inlaws now live up in Fort Pierce so I haven't been spending as much time in Palm City, but I don't think a whole lot has changed. I do think I remember reading about a newish beer bar in downtown Stuart but I don't remember what it's called or know anything about it.

As for bottle shops, unfortunately Total Wine is really it.... The Jensen House Of Brews is retail + a bar, so you can kill two birds there although I have never really browsed through their bottle selection so I can't comment on their selection. Perhaps you can find some bottle shop recomendations down south closer to Funky Buddha or Due South. Speaking of, make sure to check in and see if J. Wakefield Brewing is open, I would think there's a chance he might be open by Christmas. His location is in Miami but if you're going to FB what's another 45 mins or so farther south?

The three locations valrman listed are all solid. My favorite is Castaways, their pulled pork bbq pizza is amazeballs. It also has the best 'feel' for me. The other two just have a different vibe for me. They both will have a nice selection and are worth a visit, but it seems to me like they are trying to cater to snow birds more than younger beer nerds.

I am going to be up in Fort Pierce for several days starting on Dec 26th. If you'll be around for the weekend after Xmas let me know, I'd be happy to bring a bottle or two of something special from Cigar City to share.

I cant recommend The House of Brews enough. 69 taps and a great atmosphere (to me). Tons of bottles as well and some excellent ones. Tap list to give you an idea and its updated frequently:

Vine and Barley, B Merry Gastropub, Castaways and the Crafted Keg are options as well as mentioned. Nothing spectacular beer wise but for Jensen we just had a Buffalo Wild Wings open this week. That's big news in this town. I dig the wings then hit the HOB for good beer.
