So I bought a bottle of this beer on a whim last week. I love rye beer, and I like BBA beer so I thought why not? I saved it for Saturday night, and really looked forward to it all day long. When I finally opened the bottle, it just spewed all over the place. Luckily, I was near my sink so most of it made it down the drain instead of on the floor. I got maybe 10 ounces out of this bomber.

From what I gather it was infected. I plan on letting my bottle house know about it (for their sake.) Should I also contact the brewery? I noticed this is an issue on Untappd as well - a few check-ins have had this exact issue with this variety.

Do you still have the bomber? If so, I would look for a lot number or a time stamp and that way you can share with the brewery.

A lot of times breweries will take care of people for issues like this.

Same thing happend to me around new years. I contacted ATG and they thanked me for letting them know about it, but that was all. I am sad to say that I have not bought another since. I was thinking it was time to try another until I read this post.

Contact the brewery, but make sure you explain it as a gusher, not an exploding bottle. Exploders are a safety thing that probably merits a much stronger response.

You're not going to technically be owed any sort of compensation/replacement, but if it starts to show that there is indeed an issue with the beer any brewery who cares about their customer and has the means to do so will try to make it right.

I still have the bottle, and will contact the brewery to let them know about the gusher. Not expecting any compensation, but just being a good member of the micro-brew community. Thanks for all of your responses.

That's really unfortunate, sorry to hear that. I've had nothing but good luck when I have had an issue with a bottle or can.

Hell Half Acre replaced a bottle that I broke on a counter top before.

Same thing happened to me a while back as well. I still have the bottle--will contact the brewery.

I don't see a lot number on the bottle anywhere, but I did tweet them about it.
