I do this anyway just for curiosity sake but I was wondering what everyone's take on ageing big coffee beers like bourbon county coffee or kbs are. Any really big success stories? Are there any big coffee beers you prefer with age on them?

Fresh BCBS coffee > aged. The coffee character just gets less and less.

It depends on the beer, and depends on how much coffee flavor you like. Personally, I thought that the '11 BCBCS was over the top when fresh, but I think it's drinking just about perfectly right now.

I like big bad baptist with some age on it over fresh. That's the only one I can think off, but I still enjoy most of them anyway.

I thought the BCBCS was way too strong back in March when I had my 1st bottle - took me over an hour to sip it down. Had a 2nd bottle last week and it was probably one of the best tasting beer I've ever had. This aging stuff is very subjective - my general rule is that if it is too boozy or strong up front, either age it or trade it.

I thought year-old FBS was pretty bad.

How long did you let your big bad baptist age just curious because i have one from batch #4 and wanted to know how long to set on it for and if the beer tasted any different

At a year the coffee had toned down enough to let some other flavors through.

Just had a Wake-n-Bake from 2010 the other night and the coffee character was still amazingly present. If I didn't know it was a '10, I probably would've thought it was fresh
