    Hi

I just got 4 bottles of both Double Bastard and Oak aged yeti. I believe the Yeti is good for cellaring, but what about the Double Bastard?

I'm a huge fan of stone beers, and now that vertical epic is complete plan on doing my own vertical for double bastard, RIS and Old Guardian. The Double bastard will age, and will show differences year to year mostly with the mellowing of the hops and with the malts and caramel coming forward. I've had a few with a couple years on them and love em. I'd recommend it!

I happened to have an Oak Aged Yeti last night that I would guess was about 2 years old. (Didn't see a bottling date on it.) Pretty bad ashy taste to it and I ended up drainpouring it.

I have a 4 year vertical of Double Bastard going and I'm just begging for a reason to bust them out.

I absolutely love Double Bastard with age. The hops fade and leave a big, malty, alcohol bomb.

Drink the yeti's, cracked a 2011 a few days ago and it was not great.

I have to agree with the others on the Yeti's. I popped open a 2011 Belgian Yeti and while it wasn't terrible, it was a shadow of its former self.

Have every variation of the yeti that i just happened to pull out of the cellar earlier today. I'll let you know tomorrow how they have aged, but am super excited to have a 3 yr vertical with 4 or 5 diff variants depending on year from what i was able to find so far.

On side note ,i've been grabbing tons of Double Bastard every year, and love the way it ages. For a fairly common beer to find and reasonably priced, it ages surprisingly well, even though i would find it hard to believe Stone had that in mind when producing it.

Why wouldn't they? They had it in mind to have beers age well back in '02 with the creation of the vertical epic series.

Didn't think about the vertical epic to he honest with you. Those beers are not the same quality as the double bastard though in my mind. Double bastard is way better than the vertical epic series. Those seem to be hit or miss, and more miss in my opinion. just my .02.

Wasn't talking about the quality. I agree with you on them being a lot of misses. But if they had the forethought to plan out a series that was 10 years in the making to drink as they evolved over time, you don't think they realize and plan for double bastard and IRS to be consumed over long stretches of time? Especially since they have always been on top of adding the year it was bottled and release right on the bottle.

We drank an '02 to '04 DB vertical last year and they all tasted great.

Good info. Thanks guys. I noticed on the DB bottle they have the year and mention cellaring at 55 degrees, so I'm guessing they know people are enjoying it this way.

I thought the Yeti would age better, I guess I'll have to drink mine.

Drank my last 2007 DB a couple months ago with friends and it was superb. I plan on putting least 2 of each year back for 5 years.
