I have a few bottles of Alaskan's Imperial Amber from the pilot series in my cellar. I really like it fresh - bad idea to let a couple bottles of it mature a while?

Anyone ever aged any beers that are of a style not normally known for cellaring?

I recently had an aged Two Brothers Revelry, an Imperial Red. It changed yes, but still plenty of hop flavor and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

It's a bad idea for you to age this one.

People will tell you to not age things that you like fresh. However, if you're fulling accepting of the possibility that you'll like them quite a bit less later, there is no reason any of us should tell you to do otherwise!

Just know that you're not likely to benefit - but experimenting is just that!

UPDATE - I'M AN ASS HAT

I do not have any of this great beer in my cellar. I forgot that I only bought the one bomber and really liked it - but I DO have some Alaskan Troppelbock down there (apparently what I was thinking of) and I am curious as to whether anyone has aged such a beer before (previous searches turned up no results). It's fantastic fresh, and I am totally game to drink it all fresh - but what if it DOES improve in some way? I'd be shortchanging myself

Aw man. I thought you were going to update us and say it turned into an incredible barleywine. Now we will never know.
