Any thoughts on when to open my Bourbon Barrel Double Bastard? Keeping it in a wine fridge at cellar temp. I've tried it already and love the vanilla and oak on it currently. How long do you think it will continue to age?

With the bourbon in it, it will stand up well with time but the base beer's flavors will fade a little, leaving more bourbon (which is a plus in my book). It's big enough ABV wise though to go four or five years without too much damage. It'd be great if you had a second to try in a year as a gauge of what to expect.

Actually, no one has any idea, as this is the first release of this beer. It could get more bourbony, it could get maltier, it could just fall apart. We don't know! This is why it's a good thing to be able to sample a cellarable beer before making a decision on it.

Our group cracked one a month ago, we all really enjoyed it. I can see it mellowing just a touch, but, it's damn good now. Easily better than all the Stone QM offerings so far. Except possibly the QM Kona.

It will age for as long as you don't open it.
