I've heard people say to age this after having a few fresh ones. I got a case, traded 1 six pack and drank about 6. Have a few more in the fridge but the last one I drank just tasted like a horrible old ipa. When does it become the sweet mess I read about? I am assuming I have to wait for the hops to fade completely for it to taste sweet and great?

It'll take at least a year.

After a recent 09, 10, 11, and 13 tasting I decided this beer was best fresh. I was not a fan of how hard the hops fell off or the oxidation that occurred in the oldest bottle. I would attempt a one year old bottle for fun, but I just don't think it is worth it.

I've had an '09 recently and concur that it should not be allowed to get that old.

We did a similar tasting and at about the 3 - 4 year mark it becomes liquor like. Best during its first year but we liked it at the 2 year mark as well. Past that...it's not bad, but it's not as good as it was either

I had a few of the original release and they did not age well. Super sweet.
One of the few beers I have aged that I will say got worse with age.

I have an 09 right now too. Maybe i should just keep it as a novelty instead of drinking it.. maybe in a couple years see how funky it tastes.
