Does Founders regular Breakfast Stout go the distance, or is it best consumed fresh? Finally nabbed some in California.

Personally I like it fresh or with no more than a year. At a year it's a nice stout but the coffee is faded and the cocoa is really a shell. I'd say fresh. Also lots on this subject in previous posts to search thru. FIS is much better to cellar.

Fresh for sure, unless you want day-old coffee flavor or no coffee flavor.

Thanks! The bottles I purchased were bottled on 9/4/15. Not ideal, but it should be fine.

Did side by side, blind. Easily preferred the fresh.

Definitely fresh, I fell in love with this beer on draft years ago.
