Aging Porters

    age whatever you want. Cellaring can be fun even when the beer drops off just to see the changes. I wouldn't go too long on anything lower than 7-8% or so, they just don't seem to hold up as well.

    I've aged Zywiec porter, it's quite good fresh and aged but at 9.5% I wasn't afraid to see what would happen. After aging it for a year it had an almost maple syrup after taste to it that I enjoyed.

    Had Victory at Sea bombers recently from 2010 and 2011, was so incredibly smooth and tasty!

    Last evening, I had a Victory at Sea 12 oz bottle from last year. Coffee is definitely subdued now, but the vanilla flavor is awesome..

    Bigger porters will age just fine. Anything 8% and up should age pretty similar to a stout.

    Was just thinking about this today, glad to hear these age so well.
