I have one bottle left of orange wax and several with no wax. I am going to drink the orange waxed one soon because of the rusted cap issue, but I was wondering if anyone has had any success aging it and if so what the results were? I love it fresh but want to see what a year or so would do to it.

Not to be an ass, but why don't most people realize that most additives in beer like coffee and cinnamon and fruit drop off over time, just like hops. When I see people trading the world for 3 year old hunahpu, it just kills me.

Not to be an ass, but have you done blind tastings between aged and fresh versions of these adjuncted beers? Or are you just saying, "Aged means always worse."

I think people are aware that additives fall off with age, why is this always bad?
'12 BCBCS is drinking incredible. I recently did a blind of '13 and '14 Mexican Cake and two out of the four of us preferred the '13.

Aging a regular non-adjuncted stout or bourbon barrel stout does not necessarily make "better." Under your similar logic, one could argue, "Fresh is always better. You want that alcohol up front and the flavors pronounced. This way there is no mellowing out of the flavors!"
“ISO: 2009 BCBS FT: 2013 BCBS, 1 for 1. Willing to take your disgusting aged beers off of your hands.”

Generally, adjuncted beers are probably better fresh. Does that mean some people may enjoy them aged with the adjuncts taking a backseat? Absolutely. And more power to people who find out which of these beers do well with age.

I had a 2013 Beachwood System of a Stout next to a fresh one. The coffee flavor was really intense in the 2014 but almost non existent in the 2013. But the 2013 developed other amazing tastes of raisins and dark fruit and chocolate. It didn't even feel like they were the same beer.

I think Bomb holds up incredibly well. Same with KBS and Bourbon County Coffee.

I disagree that coffee falls off like hops. Not even close. It may fall off slightly, but I've had 2-3 year old coffee beers that are very coffee forward still

I like KBS with age on it, so maybe that would work for this. I've had some older Bomb & don't mind the muted coffee & spice; more vanilla & chocolate; so many could prefer it that way....

I personally prefer Bomb! fresh. It is still great with age, but I enjoy this beer with all the additives and spicing being strong and upfront.

Great thing about Bomb! Is it's so good fresh and has zero alcohol and isn't boozy at all.

I when I have multiples I like to age one to see how it changes. You might learn that you prefer age or you ight learn you like it fresh. Good thing is either way it will be good.

To answer your question yes, bomb! Still drinks great with some age but I only had it with 1 year so take that for what it's worth.

While you're absolutely right about additives mellowing out/falling off with time, sometimes that change is for the better.

Specifically as it relates to Bomb!, I think the coffee completely overpowers everything else in the beer fresh, but with some time on it, the vanilla and spiciness seem to come more to the forefront as the coffee fades.

Yeah, coffee doesn't fall off like hops but it definitely changes to a bittersweet taste.

Just had Bomb! fresh, and I thought it was perfect. Never had it aged, but I could I am curious what aging it might do to the pepper heat.

Word of advice: whatever you do when drinking Bomb!, be sure to leave a few ounces in the bottom of the bottle. Swirl that little bit to pick up all the sediment, then drink it separately. It is the best sip in the bottle. Thick, bready, and chocolatey - like a boozy beer, yeast milkshake!

I feel coffee turns to a bell peppery taste after a few months. the fresher the better.
