Anybody age a RIS in a can? I picked up a 32oz crowler Sierra Nevada's Narwhal in October at the Torpedo Room in Berkley, California. I didn't mean to age just haven't gotten around to opening it and I might not until next winter. The can is going to provide protection against light and air but will the can be a part of the flavor if aged more than 18 months?

No "can" flavours in Ten Fidy but my lack of experience prevents me from guessing aboot them there Crowlers.

I’m not huge on crowlers but I’m guessing you have a much shorter shelf life than an actual can. If anything, hey, cask.

Yeah, not really sure, but would figure treat it as a growler, any other crowler. Drink asap/quickly within a couple of days.

    Cheers!

Depends on how the crowler was filled. If they evacuated air with CO2, and promptly filled and capped it, could be good for months. Still, I try to consume crowlers and growlers within a couple of weeks to be sure.

Aging in a can, no problem. I wouldn't trust a crowler though.

Then we can get into the whole aging thing. Aging only improves a beer if a flavor you don't like is attenuated, allowing flavor(s) you prefer to come to the forefront. The flavor ends up not as intended by the brewer. I realize the OP unintentionally aged it to this point, but if at all possible it should be consumed ASAP.

    Crowler ≠ Can

But if you had a high quality canned beer like OB Ten Fidy, then no problem.

Cracked it open today and doesn't taste flat or sour. There was carbonation but I could have poured it more aggressively. Tastes pretty sweeter than expected.
