Anyone tried this? Certainly seems to have the ABV to stand up to time.

It's not the ABV. It's mainly malt components and bitterness that you want to shape. I don't think it's a proper candidate for aging. It's good as it is, and it most likely will not improve, so what then would be the purpose of aging it?

I cellared one from the original release for almost two years. I actually liked it fresh, plenty of oak and chardonnay character. When I recently opened the cellared bottle, it was nothing but malt. Hated it; drain pour. YMMV.

I had one recently that was about 8-9 months old, considerig it spends 3 months in barrels thats about 1 year since brew date. I thought it was fine, nice barrel characteristics.

I suggest drinking next to the base beer, very big difference in carbonation and effervesence
