Hey everyone! I was wondering if you can age a beer that is a winter warmer. Is that possible? I was in my buddy's cellar, and I saw that he had an Anchor "Our Special Ale" from 2012. Would it be bad at this point?

it depends on storage conditions and how good frankly the bottle or (can):grinning:, is sealed and of course the main thing is ABV and lack of light. anything over 6% usually stores ok, but there is no 1 answer. frankly beer is meant to be drank young usually, yes there is old ale and BW etc etc. a tripel can be aged, but it usually does not do it that well.

will an old beer kill yea is a better question.....

I never heard of one yet.:grimacing:

so yea I would drink that sooner than later.

Yes you can age a winter warmer. I've aged Jubelale and Celebration, I think they don't benefit past a year, but that's my opinion.

People age Anchor Xmas all the time. No clue why. Had a 1988 two years ago at a holiday party, damn awful. 1996 and 2002 were decent, but I still don't see the point in aging a 5.5% beer. Most other WWs lose their spice profile fast anyway, no point in aging.
