I'm new to brewing and have my first 5 gal. batch in the works now. I'm two days in and the double bubble airlock i'm using is overflowing. What are you're thoughts on the best way to proceed?
-Also, can Star San be stored in a spray bottle for future use?
    Thanks!

wrong section. But, I use a piece of tubing and a growler half full of water. When that airlock gets clogged your going to have a big mess to clean up.

Wrong forum, but, use what they call a "blow off tube". Google it, and it will show instructions. Cheers

Yes, starsan can be stored in a spray bottle but once it's mixed, I don't think it will last indefinitely

They say Star San mixture can be used in a spray bottle, until the solution becomes cloudy. After that I don't think it's as potent.

...but yea what they all said on attaching a blow off tube. I use one on every brew I do for the first few days of fermentation for insurance purposes.

P.S. Why is everyone saying wrong forum? This is the homebrew forum, right?

Blow off tube will be your best bet.

To address your problem right now, simply remove the airlock and put something to cover the hole. It's not a big deal. It doesn't have to be tight, a piece of aluminum foil will do. Clean the airlock, and replace it. If fermentation is still going it will quickly fill with CO2, and even if it's died down it will fill up as CO2 is released from the beer.

I posted in the wrong forum initially but they moved me. Thanks! I'll change it over to a blow off tube and sanitize the stopper.

Should I be worried about the stuff that has ran down airlock and pooled a little bit on top of the stopper?

If you make it with distilled water, you can use it years later.
