I'm going to Greece and Turkey next month. Our itinerary includes a layover of about 1.5 hours in Munich on the way to Athens. Is this enough time for a brief visit to Airbräu? If so, any recommendations on beers to try, etc.?

We return through Frankfurt. Any recommendations there?

    Danke, und prost!

Airbräu is outside of the secured area, so it may be tight, depending on where your arrival/departure gates are..... When I was last there they didn't have an inside the secure area presence.... Prost!!

If you're heading back through Frankfurt with time/layover, there are very few (if any) beer destinations, my best suggestion is to head to Sachsenhausen (Schweizer Strasse) and check out the local Apfelwein (bone dry cider) scene. The most common places are Zum Gemalten Haus and Adolf Wagner, the former being the better spot.

You won't really know if you have time until you arrive.

I like Airbräu, but it's not a must-visit. It's a bonus to have decent beer in an airport. In the outside world, I probably wouldn't make a special journey to visit it.

In common with most German brewpubs, they only have two or three beers, so just try one and see if you have time for another.

1.5 hours is about what I had while passing through last spring. Grabbed an Erdinger at a different vendor cause we didn’t have much time. Felt awful on the plane… something about carbonated drinks before a flight.

We stopped at Airbrau before our flight back Stateside as we had about an hour to kill before we could bag check. Stopped there served its purpose but I would not rush back. I ordered a Mayday which despite the name was a dunkelweiss, rather ordinary. The hefeweiss was just a tad better.

The Airbrau is located in the open air plaza between Terminals 1 & 2, in a larger corner near the S- and RE trains. There is also an indoor section.

Unfortunately, we didn't have much of a layover. I barely had time to use the Johann and exchange some currency before the boarding call. On the positive side, I was seated next to a delightful young Fräulein named Felizia for the rest of the trip. She was traveling to Athens with her friends for a post-graduation vacation. In other words, it's all good.

If you are leaving the secure area - right next to Airbrau is an Edeka grocery store where you can buy some Augustiner and enjoy it on the outdoor plaza.
(Edeka is also useful for a thirsty traveler taking the S-Bahn to the city center.)

Not at the moment, it's being refurbished.

Oh, and just a note that young women are not keen on being called Fräulein these days.

    Better to say/use "junge Dame"

Actually, Mädchen is only used with young girls, so don't use it unless you want to be considered a pervert. Fräulein makes you sound like you're 85 years old and escaped the 1940s. Junge Dame literally means "young lady" and gets the same reaction in Germany as you'd get calling a woman a "young lady" in English. No one uses those 3 unless it's used ironically, you're 85, or you're in the ultra right-wing political movement.
The word currently considered politically correct for "girls" is Mädel. My advice, stick with English and don't try to sound like a dumbass who's watched too many WWII movies.

Did you see the emoji? I guess you didn't. Take a breath professor (using the term lightly), it was a joke.

I was wandering southern Germany, conversing amicably with the natives, when you were still fussing in your crib.

4 months later, too. Very timely.

I guess because you needed it?

I didn't, and I didn't appreciate the (usual) condescending tone from The Professor.
