I have to be in ohio for training next week, staying at the sheraton suites akron. Are there any good beers worth getting around the area (I'm from RI, so we dont get much, pretty much anything of note I would want to get) or bars I should visit?
    Cheers!

Hoppin Frog and Thirsty Dog are both Akron based breweries, but I've been to Akron for work a few times and there's not a lot going on. I'm sure someone will be able to point you to a decent place though.

Do you have transportation? It is worth the drive to visit CLE. If not, it depends on your interests: buying brew to take back or trying brew. BM as needed.

Also, will you ship back to yourself or do you have to take it on the plane? (I'm assuming plane anyway.)

If you're able, definitely get to Cleveland. Visit a Lizardville or two. Brew Kettle. Fat Head's.

But, if you can't get out of Akron, a visit to the Hoppin' Frog brewery will net you some good beers. Also, the West Point Market is in town and a pretty good stop. Also, Portage Lakes Brewing Co. isn't a brewery, but they've been pretty good the couple of times I've stopped in. Never leave empty-handed.

I'm pretty much just looking for places to have a couple good beers with a good dinner, might try to get to hoppin frog at some point too. Anyone have any suggestions for a good restaraunt with good beers?

The Lockview Tavern in downtown Akron has a pretty nice tap and bottle list. The food there is not bad either. Neither is as good as some of the Cleveland places that were already mentioned, but certainly worth checking out if you don't have transportation out of Akron.
