What's up guys, As of tomorrow I'll be working in Albany, Monday-Thursday's for the next 15 months. Can anyone let me in on some good bottle shops and bars? Anywhere where good craft beer can be found is where I'll wanna be. I live in the Syracuse area and if anyone is ever looking for fresh beers from Empire or Middle Ages I'd love to grab whatever you need. Same goes for World of Beer if Albany doesn't have one. I greatly appreciate any feedback! Cheers
Oliver's on Colvin near Central Ave for bottle shops. Or Westmere near Crossgates mall. haven't been at the bars in a while in Albany but the Pump Station is a brewpub. City beer hall has a god taplist from what I remember. There's a couple more that have opened recently. Beer belly I want to check out soon.
@cgskippy I appreciate you taking time out to point me in the right direction. I'll definitely be checking out everywhere you suggested. This week mainly the bottle shops and then over the coming weeks the tap rooms and and bars. Syracuse is extremely lacking in terms of bottle shops so I'm excited to see Albanys offerings. Thanks again!
@Jlabs thanks for adding the previous thread and sorry about essentially duplicating one. I did attempt to look but only made it through about four previous pages. The BA app sometimes isn't as search friendly as I'd like it to be. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. cheers!
@BvilleBrewGuy- there is a World of Beer in Albany- it's at Crossgates Mall. Good selection, but the service can be lacking sometimes.
I like to stop by Glenville Beverage (not in Albany, but not far either) any time I'm in the area. The place flies under the radar, so there are often some very cool bottles available long after they would have been scooped up elsewhere.
@GreesyFizeek thanks for the heads up on WOB. In syracuse the selection is usually pretty good, they even had KBS last year! It's apparent Albany trumps us in all other beer aspects tho! Thanks man
@ColdOne thanks for the diamond in the ruff. I'm always willing to travel or go out of my way a little for good beers or unique selections. Cheers
Madison Pour House is a really nice relaxing bar and typically has a solid tap list(Had Fou Foune on xmas eve), as does The Ruck in troy.. Also beer belly and city beer hall as someone said above.. I 2nd westmere beverage and olivers brew crew, they are sister stores and great selection for the area bottle shops.. World of Beer is good if your going to drink, don't expect much in terms of good service/good food if your ordering food. Lionheart Pub in Albany is having a Founders CBS tapping on Thursday Jan 29th at 5pm.. shoot me a message if your looking for any more info, theres always hidden gems.. Tip: Follow all these places on facebook, they are usually pretty good about keeping their customers up to date on draft lists and new/limited releases
@Bigklip74 I can't thank you enough for the solid leads, it's appreciated. I saw that KBS is being tapped but I work late Thursday and then head back to Syracuse that night although I appreciate the heads up. I appreciate the heads up about Facebook too. I have a brother who works in Vermont and is always getting me fresh Heady so if you're ever in need just ask. Thanks for being so cool and I'm sure I'll be reaching out in the near future. Cheers my friend
@Bigklip74 I have a couple cans now and will have half a case in two weeks so just let me know. At this point I'm unfamiliar with the area for the most part but my company is putting us up in a Holiday Inn near Wolf street. So...anytime you're in need or looking just give me a shout.
@BvilleBrewGuy if you check out the Ruck make sure you get some wings. Also, there is new small brewery a block away from the Ruck called Rare Form - they have limited hours but they are open Wednesday and Thursday early evening http://www.rareformbrewing.com/
