I am going to Albany, NY from Detroit, MI in two weeks for a job interview and was wondering where I can grab a good beer and bite to eat for dinner one night. Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.
To keep it short: Albany Ale and Oyster Delaware Supply Lost & Found Might find this helpful as well: https://www.beeradvocate.com/commun...eries-albany-hudson-area.591211/#post-6218651
These are objectively the best three spots for beer in Albany. Which you go to kind of depends on the vibe you want. - Lost & Found has more of a cozy pub feel, a huge outdoor patio and the best food of the bunch. Not a ton of draft lines but 30-40 cans to choose from so you'll find something dope. - Ale & Oyster is the upscale-but-still-cozy type of beer bar. They've got 24 draft lines (across a wide array of styles), you can do flights, they have a 16oz canning machine to take anything to go and they have a small but well-curated bottle shop up front. Solid food, but not incredible. Not a ton of outdoor seating, either. - Delaware Supply is the beer geek's beer bar. Very minimalist, 12 draft lines, some cans & bottles (always have Jacks Abby & some lambic on hand) but you'll find stuff here you won't find literally anywhere else in the Capital Region, if upstate NY as a whole. Right now they've got a flanders oud bruin, a killer BPA from De Ranke, a Suarez pale, a great porter, a French dry cider, a couple NEIPAs and a sour from some place in Australia I've never heard of. Outdoor area there too on a street with plenty of people watching to do. - I'll also throw out City Beer Hall as the fourth best option. They have a legitimately incredible chef there, so food is a tad more expensive than some other craft beer bars but very much worth it. Sixteen drafts there too, some TVs to catch a game and the second best outdoor space around behind Lost & Found. Being that you're only around for a night, I'd recommend: - Grab dinner and a beer at Lost & Found or City Beer Hall. - Go grab a beer or two at Delaware Supply (they have 6 or 10oz options for everything if you're worried about driving) - Finish the night off with a beer and some wings at McGearys. - Get a coffee from Stacks Espresso and a donut from Cider Belly (literally a two-minute walk from one another) on your way out the next morning.
Nah. You can find OH on draft around here pretty easily, and we have mobile OH can releases probably 2-3 times a year but outside that you won't find cans anywhere.
Mohawk Tap Room in Scotia usually has OH on tap and have done a few mobile can sales for Other Half, LIC Beer Project & Equilibrium to name a few
I'm heading to Albany this coming Monday / Tuesday and looking for a spot for dinner and a few good beers, so all these recommendations are great. They all look awesome. I'll be with a largish group (7 total, including 2 small kids) - any thoughts which of these three place might be best for accommodating a group with kids?
I'd say it depends on the age of the kids. DelSup just has a few snacks so you can't really get dinner there anyhow, but neither A&O or Lost & Found (or City Beer Hall) have kids menus. They all serve high-end pub food. With kids in tow, I think your best bet will be The Hollow. Has a very good beer menu in its own right as well as great food, but I just looked and they also have chicken tenders, mozz sticks, quesadillas and other things smaller kids would be into. Space is plenty big to accommodate seven people, too, and it's pretty inexpensive for the quality of food you get.
Great, thanks for the recommendation, sounds perfect! Checked out the beer menu and it looks pretty excellent - surprised to see Trillium available at a few of these places. The Hollow also looks like it's a 5 min walk from the Hilton Albany where we're staying, which is pretty perfect :-)
Also -- if you have a chance to do adult things but wanna stay right in that same walkable vicinity, The Bishop is across the street from The Hollow and has a great beer list, cocktail program and whiskey selection.
