And it's no longer a beer week... now it's ten days. A monthlong festival would be nice.

A ton of truly non-events like tastings at Total Wine and other liquor stores which are essentially a farce given the half-ounce pours in plastic medicine cups, but there will be some great keg tappings to look forward to.

    BCBS Coffee anyone?

I'll go on record here and everywhere else as being disappointed by the collaboration brew that all of our great brewers opted for: a session IPA. For real? All those great brewers and that's what you choose? Wasn't last year's a session IPA? And the year before a Double IPA? Way to pigeonhole yourselves guys. Way to take all your minds together and really push some boundaries.

    End rant.

I had a place in Taos years ago. It always seemed to me that New Mexico was a state full of beer lovers, and almost empty of good beers. What's it like now?

Albuquerque is booming and pumping out lots of good beer. Our brewers are winning awards left and right. Mostly for IPAs to my dismay, but hey.

Any activity is good. And hey, I like IPAs. Seriously, good to hear the scene is booming. I've always loved New Mexico. Who knows, may still retire there.

Sounds like fun I guess. I tend to visit breweries I haven't checked out when all the crowds are spread about the city . Not into the vague information/hoping for the best when it comes to some of these events. Special tapping huh? Of what? Are prices out of this world? I guess I'm an info first sort of guy.

Collab beers are nice. We need more and more and MORE of them though. ABQ Beer week should conclude with a beer fest with ONLY ABQ/area breweries, each one tapping 2-4 newly inspired beers for the fest. Whether its a chile pepper infused beer with nutmeg and cinnamon (cue up Stone's Xocoveza collab) or what some are already doing, and having special releases of session IPAs or plum beers. Canteen and Bosque should have teamed up for a Brewing News IPA Championship Collab. I wish they could all come together at one venue. I don't even know if its about the beer anymore. Seems like many places are just trying to get in on the action and drum up business for their own place. Good for them. But I can't spread myself out like that.

@shuntstout you got any tricks up your sleeve for Beer Week?

@Oktoberfiesta follow Nob Hill Bar and Grill on Twitter. Personally, the only bar events worth going to are there and at 2 Fools across the street. MAYBE, the Anodyne and Sister tappings. I'm willing to bet La Cumbre and Oskar Blues brew another pale ale or IPA to really maximize their joint capabilities and creativity.

@ONovoMexicano Negative on my end, there is so much crap going on already!. Possibly a tasting at the store but as you said that's pretty lame... Definitely be on the look out though, I think we have a trick up our sleeve's for a pretty sweet summer fest type extravaganza!!! Should be pretty sweeeeet! Any suggestions on styles you guys would like to see at such an event?! Let me know!
    Cheers!

Lovin' the lagers. Dopplebocks, munich helles lagers, german pilsners, Czech pils, VMO type marzens, and kolschs.

I don't want Kolsch style ales either... But that may be asking alot .. I would even take variations into hoppy lagers or the like, since our city/region does hops so well

I'm trying to encourage Nob Hill Bar and Grill to do a German tap takeover. Stay tuned.

Oohh... a German tap take over would be great!

My local German beer drinking buds were astounded that I was able to enjoy reasonably good versions (in most cases) of their regional specialties thx to La Cumbre and Marble.
