I'm interested in learning more about beer and I want to start local. I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Can I get any recommendations for breweries? I prefer darker beers with creamy textures (dessert beers).

I'll let the Arizona members speak to this but you might consider posting over in the Southwest forum as well.

Welcome to the BA forums, Crabb90. @Squire is right that the Southwest regional forum is the place to find out the answer to your request, and this thread will end up being moved there. However, in the meantime here is a link to a search that I did of the breweries in Albuquerque in the BA database ( https://www.beeradvocate.com/place/...querque&s_id=NM&c_id=&submit=Search&brewery=Y ) plus a link to the Beer Styles page ( https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/style/ ) where you can browse the various styles and their descriptions. Each style has a list of the most popular beers in that style so you can pick out some and look for them in your local store (they won't necessarily be from NM).

    Happy hunting.

La Cumbre, Marble and Bow & Arrow are my 3 favorite local ABQ breweries.

My favorite local stout is Marble's Oatmeal Stout. Canteen has a great imperial stout on draft but not sure its what you are looking for; think bitter, roasty, dark chocolatey. Bow & Arrow has a dessert stout coming up, German Chocolate Cake Stout. You just missed La Cumbre's Molonillo Stout, which was great this year. Santa Fe has a pastry porter on tap (which I have not tried).

Actually the Santa Fe porter is pastry-free and eschews the sweet ways of the pastriarchy.
