Howdy gang, Making my way to New Mexico for the Hot Air Balloon festival the weekend of the 10th and wanted some insight on places to check out beer wise. Currently La Cumbre and Marble are at the top of my list with a stop at Chama if time permits. We're also going to go to Santa Fe for a day or two, but I have no idea for good beer stops there. I guess my main question is how difficult is it to find cans of Elevated IPA from La Cumbre? Is it like Heady Topper up in VT with super limited distribution and a 1 case limit at the brewery or is the hype nowhere near that insane? I'm hoping to grab a case to bring back if I like it. Apart from that, any tips for stores with a bottle/can selection of beers I can't land in Boston? Does anyone out there make some saisons worth seeking out? Thanks in advance for any advice!
Not hard at all to find Elevated. I found a stack at the Sprouts in Santa Fe and they also sell it at while foods in Santa Fe. Not sure about Albuquerque but I'm sure it's as easy, if not easier, to track down there. Safe travels and cheers!
I bought almost 5 cases at the brewery when I was there. Shouldn't be a problem for you. Only down side about breweries in ABQ are the 3 drink limits.... Even if you walked there. You can still drink 3 and buy some to go though.
Yeah, I was reading up on that. A bit frustrating, but based on what my SO told me about DUIs in the area somewhat understandable.
Check out http://nmbeer.org/ There is a "total wine" (its a huge liquor store with everything, huge NM beer selection!!) But is http://albuquerque.about.com/od/fooddrink/tp/AlbuquerqueBreweries.htm check out Bosque Brewing which is near the Balloon Fiesta, and Nexus for their chicken and waffles, Il Vincino Brewery for some great pizza. And when your in Santa Fe go to http://www.secondstreetbrewery.com/ Cheers Buddy! Let me know if you have any questions
Jubilation is the best local store in ABQ. Great selection, great staff. I generally go there first, then to Total Wine which usually has a few things Jubilation doesn't. Best beer selection in a restaurant I've found is Artichoke Cafe. They always have a Chimay on tap and either Delirium Tremens or Nocturnum. Decent bottle selection as well, and the food is spectacular. For pubs, Two Fools has the best beer selection. Marble is the biggest local brewer, and Tractor is decent as well. Santa Fe brewing has a canned Saison 88 that's about as good as a canned Saison is going to be.
