Read that the Alchemist is supposed to be opening a beer garden for on-site consumption. The article said a July 1st opening but I haven’t seen anything official from the brewery. Anyone have some insight?

They posted on their instagram announcing it on May 18--haven't seen any details since then but looks to be legit

OK, but what the hell's "CASH FREE"?

(Reminds me of the E-Z-Pass signs over some of the tollbooths that read NO CASH. I always picture someone from out of the area reading that and thinking, "Oh, damn, ain't that nice of 'em. We've got no money so I'll pick that one...")

That seems to be somewhat of a 'trend' these days?

I went to my first post-pandemic Phillies game yesterday and all of the vendors (beer, food, etc.) were cash free at the park. I was standing behind one guy who tried to pay cash for his beer and he was denied and had to pull out his credit card.

    Cheers!

Well, no, but when I was there the side door was open and people were using the bathrooms inside.

I'm befuddled, because when I look at any bill, it states clearly "this bill is legal tender for all debts, public and private."

Shouldn't this mean I can pay cash for anything I buy in any location?

And, while probably not a big deal with luxury products like craft beer, to me this is a big equity issue. Lots of poor people don't have credit or debit cards.

So, as I understand it at Citizens Bank Park there is a kiosk (or something similar) where you can insert cash and obtain a debit card.

My guess is this no cash thing is a COVID 19 thing were vendors now don't have to touch bills (but just a guess).

    Cheers!

For what it's worth, Alchemist has probably the best record in the industry as far as pay standards and giving to charity so I am very confident they have this policy in place in order to protect their employees and the public they come in contact with...

Yes, and I'm very confident this is not discrimination against "poor people," either. FWIW, in NYC I frequented all manner of cash free places, including food carts, even before Covid. There's no law mandating that a vendor must accept cash.

Does the alchemist still sell heady and focal at retail in stores throughout Vermont? They used to have a list of stores and delivery on the website and it’s gone. Parents are headed to castleton Vermont this tues through Saturday and was hoping they could grab me a four pack or two from a nearby store.

HT and FB are sold everywhere. Exact drops in each store may vary, but I think they are mostly on Thursdays.

Phew… luckily I’ll still be there in Stowe on a Thursday during my upcoming trip.

Is the tour worth taking? Says these days you get a pour, a “commemorative glass” (curious what it is), and a can for the beer garden at $20, which seems fair.
