Hi I'm from the south Chicago area and have access to much pipeworks, revolution, spiteful, 18th street and 3 floyds. What would be some fair trade ratios for heady, focal banger, Pliny, blind pig, Kern River citra...?

Pliny/Blind Pig you should be able to get at $4$, about $5.50 per bottle at the brewery. Citra, that's a lottery so much more difficult to get than the RR stuff.

So 2-3:1 for zombie dust for either for those RR in your opinion would be fair?

Is that 1 zombie dust a six pack?

No what I'm saying is 2-3 bottles of zombie dust for 1 Pliny. It like a six pack of zombie dust for a 4 pack of heady? How much is a 4 pack of heady? I know Pliny is like $5.99-$7.99

Ok zombie is 10 at the brewery and about 15 locally so I would think a 6er for a 4 pack would be fair?

3 ZD for 1 Pliny or Blind Pig, is fair. Some people will want to go 2:1 or 4:1, so I suppose that's the kind of fair range.
You would think that, but Alchemist beers tend to punch a bit above their price. Might be the VT location or truck pop-up sales. I'd say 6er for 4pk is fair, but the people with the cans might want 8:4 or 9:4. More than that is someone leveraging the supply vs demand situation.

As for Citra, it's more limited so it'll take more ammo. Make sure you specify and get it fresh.
    Good luck OP.

I would be willing to trade some IPA's with you from here in Maine. I currently have Maine Beer Company Dinner and Lunch.

Also have Bissell Brothers Substance Ale. All of them are freshly bottled/canned as of last week. Would love to try the Zombie Dust and any other top IPA's you might be able to get a hold of.

That sounds like a good plan to me. I've really wanted to try both dinner and lunch. What would you like to do for a trade ratio? I could get some more zombie when it's in. Also I had Pipeworks Nelson Sauvin last night that was delicious. i have a couple other in mind. Let me know what you think about setting up a trade.

For what it's worth, I gave a HF Dorothy ($10) and a Jackie O's Rum Oil ($12) for a Kern Citra.

That's sounds like a lot. But Kern is hard to get I would imagine. What did you think if it? Was it worth it? Great info thanks

I had two friends win the February lottery, so they sent me four bottles for $+label (lucky me).
They had it on draft at Kern and in bottle, and the more knowledgeable one and I had the exact same opinion: we thought it was like Pliny with a little less flavor and mouthfeel.

The bottle I had was ~17 days old, which is almost as fresh as you can get it through trading. My tasting group though it was amazing, but I didn't ask them how they though it compared to Pliny or Permanent Funeral (which we had had recently)-- and they love those two as well.

They live near one of the nearest cities (but on the CA coast) and it was 3 hours each way. They said it's not worth it and they won't do the drive again. I you want to tick it, go for it, but you're not missing out. You can possibly wrangle one for some beers with more $ value but easier to get than the koolaid man, like two PF and some ZD.

PF isn't cheap for local even. I would think that should probably be 1:1 with Kern River DIPA

It's definitely a lot, but in my experience it commands a high premium. As for the beer itself, I was very disappointed with it, but I'm not ready to write it off. I specified the latest release in the trade and the guy I traded with assured me it was from the newest batch, but the bottle I got was a malt bomb with no hop presence - it tasted like an old bottle. This means one of two things: 1) The guy lied to me (I don't believe this - he was very responsive and seemed like a straight-up guy) or 2) There were quality control issues with the latest batch. I haven't seen threads on here complaining about it, and we all know there would be angry threads if there was an issue, so if there was indeed an issue with the batch, it wasn't very widespread.

I'm hoping to try another bottle that tastes like it's supposed to since I've heard such amazing things about this beer, but I'm also reluctant to do another trade in case I give up more great beer for another dud.

Not doubting you, but here's why I said that:
I don't know all the details, but I know that a Chicago-area guy has sent a case of PF for $10 each plus label to someone who lives west of the Mississippi. Trade partner doing someone a favor tmk.
So I find it reasonable that PF is somewhere nearish Chi for $10per, in quantity.

In quantity yes but that's also only at the brewery. Everywhere is probably around $12. How much would Kern be?

Interesting to see this sort of opinion but that's why we're all here, right? I live a little under 3 hours away and jump at any chance I have to get Citra because it is that good. I went up for the February lottery pickup and had plenty there and shared my bottles with some friends. They all loved it. Went up again when they had it on Labor Day weekend and it was just as good. Couldn't be further from Pliny in my mind and I've had a whole lot of that too. Plus Kern River is just a really chill spot to hang out for a night/weekend.
