Alchemist Tent Sale

The new Alchemist brewery in Stowe is specifically to brew Focal Banger, so that should be available at retail spots once the new location is online

Okay Brendan is partially right. When Stowe opens up they'll brew focal banger year round, and presumably offer off site retail sales. They'll also be brewing old brew pub recipes in Stowe and desigate Waterbury to Heady Topper production. Realistically I think you'll see year round FBT from Stowe, HT from Waterbury and one-oft releases in Stowe.

Perhaps you may have mistaken cases of Heady in cars that were purchased at the 10am drop at CBC? 100 cases sold out in one hour staff told me when I stopped in at 11 to buy something else.

 

Agreed. Having one now. So damn good.

 

Correction: 50 cases of Heady @ 1/2 case per person limit.

 

The local market had a TON of cases, we found them after striking out at CBC

 

Sucks, really. I was there around 12, and it was quite crowded. Many of the first persons went back in line. Friends who got there at 12:30 got nothing too (well, we shared with them). I would have sold you a mixed 4-pack gladly, I find it quite sad that people don't share. It's pretty much the point. We're not talking about rice bags...

 

That sucks my friend, me and my friends went thru the first time and just left because we didn't think it would be right to go thru a second time for this very reason. Sorry to hear it

 

Also hilarious that those 20 people in front of you thought it'd be wise to hold their first cases of beer for an hour or so while waiting in line instead of dropping the them in the car.

 

Probably was wise on their part, if they'd gone back to the car, I might have gotten a case instead of getting the shaft like Brockett.

 

I would've loved to make it up to pick up some of that. Sorry to hear that some people got shafted while others were double-dipping, though I suppose it is to be expected. There will always be greedy SOBs out there.

 

Not unless they've started using the green 4pack holders on heady. In the days of extreme demand and limited supply with our precious VT beer there's always bound to be those who get shut, and bound to be someone who was just one person away from getting beer. This time I happened to be that person, and would have gotten beer if even just one person didn't cut the line or double dip. It wasn't rampant by any means, but it did go on. As Maxwell Smart says, "Missed it by that much!"

 

Right before the sale started, did Jen K say something about there being too many people there so they wouldn't have enough for people to get back in line? I just missed the beginning of what she announced.

Anyways, after having another of each last night, I think Focal Banger is a step above even Heady. Has been more of a tossup with the other batches, but this one is just awesome. Can't wait til it's a regular offering at the new brewery.

 

She said at about 1215, "we're going to start the sale soon, there are almost 500 people in line."

 

So are we confirmed double dipping happened? I mean I know there is a complaint against that here, and I am not trying to undermind the observation...I am just trying to understand. The way I heard it, there were over 500 in line and no-one had the chance to loop back, at all.

Not trying to stir the pot, but that was the impression everyone I know who was there had. Doesn't seem like any concrete evidence for the double dipping given that the release allegedly started when 500 people were present (which would be a logical go ahead to start early; once all the allocations are spoken for, why make everyone wait and allow new people to line up just to be shut out.)
