Alchemy Hour name change

I think Alchemy Hour captured the West Coast nature of the beverage and was a perfect name and a very very good brew deserving of the name. Looking forward to it under ANY name.

 

Both may sell more if they changed the name to Big Hairy Donkey Balls.

 

I've just been drinking it on draft at Old Chicago for the last month or so. Middling =/= sucking big hairy donkey balls, though. And personally I think it's a shite's sight better than middling.

 

Chillwave? What the fuck is that? Sounds like the name of a prepubescent kid's username.

Every time I drank an Alchemy Hour...I wanted it to be called Charlie Don't Surf Like Kilgore for some reason.

 

I'm convinced that if Sierra Nevada Pale Ale were repackaged and sold by a brewery like Widmer, 90% of "beer geeks" on this site would consider it unimpressive middling shite.

 

That, besides being completely non-PC, would be a most excellent alternative to Chillwave.

 

I've only had it in bottles, so perhaps it's better on tap. The extent of the suckage was more in comparison to the quality of the beer that was forced to change it's name.

 

Most of the shit that goes on in this world isn't PC.

 

Sounds like the people who don't like the new name need to get on the chillwave, nah what I'm saying brahs? *passes joint*

 

Chillwave, seriously? Might as well call it Alchy Hour or Chemistry Hour if you're gonna be that lazy.

 

Reminds me of another beer that is exceptional with a questionable name..... They could have went with Point Break.

 

True. However, companies live and die by not crossing certain boundaries. I would dig Charlie Don't Surf and get the tongue in cheek. Some would be offended. I would not want to hang out with these offended people

 

PC is the mind killer. Its a good thing Mel Brooks didn't suffer from this disease.

 

To put things in perspective, Alchemy Hour was the "perfect time to go surfing". The beer was named after those in Cleveland who go surfing in winter on Lake Erie. So Chillwave is a clear reference to the freezing waters. So they stayed with that theme. Just sayin..

But yeah, the name isn't as cool as the original. It might take some time to get used to. Alchemy Hour was a perfect name, but whatever..

 

oh i was just playing the overly-hip hipster who only listens to bands that obscure bloggers blog about before they get popular enough to play a show outside of their own basement card. I love the new washed out.

Anyway, great bier. The new name isn't all that, but there are worse named biers.

 

I like the old name, but as long as the beer stays the same, I'm good with it. I've only had this beer a few times, but it wowed every time.
