    It's well worth asking about -- nice rendition.

    Ok according to the Texas dudes, they stocked up on the German Pilsner and sure enough they had it today. I grabbed a six pack and it is chilling in the fridge. I also saw a 4 pack of Hop Lift which was somewhat new, and so was googling about it just then and found this: https://www.thrillist.com/drink/nation/best-aldi-beers-ranked-aldi-beer-reviews . Who doesn't love a good thrillist :slight_smile:. After reading the reviews here (left phone in the car when I was at Aldi's) I am regretting not picking up Hop Lift. Well that is for another day.

    No unions here. It is straight out money in government corruption. Or, the good old boy system network amalgam just greasing the wheels. It is obvious and expensive. Money at all levels corrupts us to the point where corrupt business as usual claims the day...

    Folded Mountains is a good pale ale.

    I liked the beer selection in a Munich Aldi I visited last September:

    Thanks to all who contributed to this thread. After reading, I made my first visit to one of my city's Aldi's and purchased a sixer of Wernesgrüner for $5.99. It had a "best by: 01/17/21" and is very tasty! I plan to repeat this purchase often and may try their other offerings as they become available.

    I frequent the Aldi stores in my NE Ohio area often as I grocery shop there every week - not getting all the negative vibes about their produce, etc - ones here have great produce and amazing prices......their beer and wine game have improved and I enjoy some of the beers on occasion - ours sell limited Great Lakes and Rheingeist beers too.....the Shea's Irish Stout is pretty good and a nice price point.....I like some of the German brews as well - wish their selection were more like Trader Joe's.....oh well

    I'm sure you may realize: Trader Joe's is owned by ALDI Nord (or North) and ALDI is owned by ALDI Sud (South); they're arms of the same parent company, and so (I suspect) keep their selections different for demographic reasons. No reason you can't shop at both!

    Thanks - yes I am aware of the ownership ties;
    Sadly, the closest Trader Joe's to me is like 45 minutes away in Cleveland

    Unless a merger (re-union?) occurred recently, the firms are still separate, though owned by members of the same family:

    In NJ, there are two similar rival liquor store chains, "Canal's" and "Joe Canal's" and two soft-serve ice cream shops (mostly in shore towns) "Kohr's" and "Kohr Bros".

    Hi, I'm the Aldi fan club president lol.. Surprised you mentioned you don't have luck with fancy cheese.. Aldi is my go-to place when I'm making a charcuterie for a party. They have a nice selection of American and European cheeses in CT (soft, hard, aged, etc), and also some delicious (albeit pre-packaged) sliced italian meats (prociutto, cappicola, salami, dry sausage). Ends up being almost half the price of a regular grocery store. Not to mention - Aldi has the best chocolate!

    FWIW -- Was just at my local Aldi and they didn't have the O'Shea's Irish Stout, but their Irish Red this year. $5.99 a four-pack, however. Bit pricey for Aldi.

    Same product and price here. I passed only because I'm not a big Irish Red Ale fan. The stout was solid last year.

    My store got the Irish red ale last week and the stout this week. Picked up both - the red ale was solid, the stout was actually very nice. Might pick up a second 4-pack before its gone.

    I saw the stout only two weeks ago. Then this past weekend I saw both the stout and the red ale.

    This is the first time I've ever noticed either of them.

    Picked up the red ale and enjoyed it very much. Didn't see the stout yet, but would gladly pick up another red ale sixer.
