Anyone know how long the best by date is on Wernesgruner?

I picked up the pils last weekend with a best by date of 02/13/2021. Very fresh tasting, but I doubt the beer was only 2 weeks old. Possible 15 month dating?

Correct - 15 month dating on the bottles exported to the US. I have confirmed this directly with Wernesgrüner

Red Ale is a 4-pack here in N. Illinois, and I think I remember the Stout being in 4s as well. Pretty sure O'Hara's (the beer Aldi has re-labeled for their O'Shea's) sells in 4 packs too. Does Ohio have sixers?

I noticed mine in NECT started to carry some last summer however I haven't picked any up. I may do that this weekend. I rememeber seeing some german made beers that mentioned the German purity law, which you don't see too often.

How much German beer do you buy? I have bottles of HB, Paulaner, and Hacker-Pschorr that all advertise being brewed under the German (or Bavarian) purity law.

I'll have to give the Kinroo Blue a try - I can honestly say that I've seen it but did not put the (intended) Blue Moon connection together. I have been burned before on horrible Belgian witbiers (from the NY state fake label beer factory) but this Thrillist review has encouraged me to try.

First time I tried the Kinroo I thought it was pretty good. Next time, not so much. Both sixes were fresh, but a few months apart. Inconsistency from the brewery? Dunno.

Kinroo Blue is excellent, and cheap. I enjoy it often, especially in summer time. Better for me than Blue Moon, cheaper. I also enjoy Bacher a lot and love Wurnesgruner.

We have an Aldi within walking distance to our home, but even in a state where beer sales are permitted in grocery stores, this particular Aldi does not sell beer. I think it may have something to do with their smaller footprint, higher rent, and perhaps even a lease agreement with the real estate management company to prevent vagrancy and or attract the homeless population to the plaza that the store is situated in.

To the best of my knowledge there are no Aldi locations in Canada, although I recently visited one in Portugal and found the beer selection to be subpar compared to Lidl or the Portuguese chain Continente.

My fridge is full of beer, I can't bring any more beer home without my wife losing her shit. My daughter just had twins, and her husband will drink just about anything, so when working over at their house before they came home from the hospital I noticed that his beer fridge was low so made a trip to Aldi's and grabbed the German Pils and the Hopping Nomad ($6.49 session IPA 4%). I had the Hopping Nomad later that day and was surprised at how good it was. None of the 2 reviews here were too flattering, but I would have no problem having this in my fridge as a light evening beer. Hop profile reminded me of SNPA and the body wasn't that bad for a 4%, going with a little crystal malt left some residual sugar in there. My next purchase will be the 4 pack of the 16oz IPA, they didn't have it at the Aldi's I went to by their house. @steveh I have only seen the stout and red ale in the 4 packs here in Houston.

Sounds like I need to give the ones up north here another try. Considering my first couple of visits years ago, the only way they can go is up. I’ll report back on what I see.

Many Aldi's in my area have remodeled over the last few years. Larger footprints, more upscale image, larger selection, a very thorough selection of organic foods. The biggest improvement to me has been refrigerated produce sections. I would not call the beer selection great. I think they actually do a better job with wine. But there are some definite value picks to be found (especially fresh Wernesgruner!).

@hottenot, I just stopped by my local Aldi to get a few things for dinner and they had Licher Weizen on the shelf. Just FYI.

No beer in Aldi that's opened nearby recently. Perhaps because there's a Trader Joe's across the road?

Got a TJs across from the Aldi in Vernon Hills, IL -- both sell liquor.

I have the feeling Aldi picks and chooses which store they want to sell liquor. Look around, there's bound to be another with beer.
