Wernersgrüner ist a real German Pilsner for $6.99 a sixer here. I think Aldi has the exclusive import rights.

Maybe we should re-evaluate what a rip-off is. As an Austrian Master Chef once told me, "If you change the amounts on three ingredients, no matter how much, it's yours".

Also, ingredients aren't the same as process. So, yes, Aldi is trying to make a product close enough to what folks recognize at a cheaper price. But if you actually have a refined enough palate to tell the difference, you know.

Personally, I prefer Boot Tread (my mom keeps it in the fridge for when I visit) to Fat Tire.

This is all so shameless that it's almost comical.

I can't wait to get a taste of that Shale Pompous Miscreant, though.

    Still brewed in Saxony.

Many of the East German breweries were bought by West German breweries soon after reunification..

The thing with many of Aldi's (USA) seemingly ripped-off labels is that many of those are the actual product re-branded for Aldi. Their Carlow beers are just that.

I see what you did there, good sir. Lol. I probably try that beer given that I no longer purchase or support Stone products.

The discussion is not about style of the beer, but about ripping off its trademark / trade dress.

Well, in that case, everyone should stop being mad at Stone for their myriad cease and desist lawsuits.

Wait a sec. If you guys are suggesting that the brand being "copied" is involved somehow that gives this all a different perspective. That would imply that DfH is aware of the branding for the Key Lime Sour then.

Private labeling for discount pricing is a well-established practice to sell into the discount market while protecting the value of the premium brand.

It is odd, IMO, to see this done with such blatant copying of the trade dress.

In the specific case of their O'Shea brand the brewery is involved, but I have no idea if DFH is involved in this new one ...
