Velveteen Habit is awesome. Wisconsin stepping up its IPA game! Scream, Fantasy Factory, and Velveteen are a pretty nice top 3 for me, with Bedlam not far behind. Not to mention Black Husky!

Question about Ale Asylum - Their labels have a space for the bottling date, yet every time I look at buying their beer, the space is blank. Keeps me from buying it.

Date is printed on the neck area now, just discovered that myself a few weeks ago.

Thanks! Never thought to look there. Got to find some fresh Bedlam now.

Velveteen is more malty than I had expected...but it is a really great brew. I am looking forward to their quarterly offerings.

All of their hoppy offerings have a pretty big malt backbone. I need more VH.

Its a drink by date not a bottle on date which I prefer(bottle on date) but at least I know now which ones to leave on the shelf.

How far out do they date?

Depends on style obviously, but VH had a bb date of late April. 3 months would make the most sense.

This stuff is pretty crushable. I pick up a similar hop profile to Ambergeddon and a little less citrus than expected but tasty nonetheless.

Tastes a lot like Fantasy Factory, but with a bit more pine/grassy character to it.

I really enjoyed VR as well. Nice juicy, but not overpowering, hop flavor with a malty backbone. And, as Ri0 mentioned, it leaves out the Belgian yeast, so that is a plus in my book.

    It's an easy drinker.

Thanks to the BA'ers for raising my awareness to this beer and thanks to my local grocery for bringing it in house.

    yeah, this.

Had (a few) on tap tonight. And since Tipsy also has FF on tap, I had them side by side.

I've been loving FF as a fridge mainstay, but VH will be giving it some competition for sure (and maybe winning out, due to FF being off my usual spots' shelves by Thursday or Friday most weeks.) It goes down just a bit heavier, which makes it a perfect IPA for winter nights in Wisconsin...

Nice. I will certainly be grabbing some more. It's just a really well done beer. And the 7.5% is sneaky.

Tried it this past weekend finally. Very good; I'll have to try this side-by-side with Fantasy Factory as they seem pretty similar.
