Had some trepidation about this one. Got a super fresh bottle today and it is one damn fine DIPA for all you Citra fans out there. I like to support local so I'm pleased to say I would recommend this one. Great Citra nose, bitter hopping and the tell tale citrus fruit profile from the Massive amount of Citra used. Not sweet which I love. From Noble Ale Works Anaheim Ca.

    Cheers.....

I have not been a fan of any Nobel Ale Works offerings as of yet, but I will give this one a shot thanks to your recommendation.

Hence my trepidation, this batch, I'm sipping now btw, is really a nice beer. I bought one thinking meh, nothing to lose. Let me know what you think when test drive.

    Cheers.....

Picked up 2 the day after the release. Drank one that say, was a damn good beer IMO. I will be drinking the other one this week to see if the flavors meld a little bit. My recommendation might not be vaild because I haven't experienced beers with much Citra in them.

    Good beer none the less.

Is this the same Nobility that Noble Ale Works released like 2 years ago or so? I remember going to NAW for the first time release of Nobility DIPA. At the time it was just okay. Nothing special. But I dont remember it being Citra. Maybe I will have to give this another try. Where did you buy the bottle? I dont see Noble's beers in much stores around the OC or LA area.

Yea, I have never had anything from Noble before but my brew guru knowing I LOVE anything Citra asked me to taste it and ket him know if he should restock. It's a damn fine Citra based DIPA that's relatively easy to get.

    Cheers....

From what I was told this is a new recipe and not resembling anything from the initial release of a few years ago. To be honest I was not a fan of their brews having had a few at various tastings. I was asked to give it a try and I did, and I'm glad I did. Is it KRBC Citra territory ? NO, but it is a very well made Citra heavy DIPA that never veered far from the profile. I picked up a bottle at WF.

    Cheers.....

Noble did suck mightily at one point but their new brewmaster Evan (formerly brewer at Hanger 24 & TAPS) does have skills. Nobility is indeed a tasty beer.

While this may be a new recipe, the major difference is that noble got a new head brewer a couple of months ago. I also have not been impressed with any noble beers, but i assure you that this will be changing. Watch this brewery.

Does Noble bottle date? I've seen some Nobility hanging around a shop for a while now and I've refrained from buying it because I'm not sure which batch it is.

Doesn't look like they do. I got a bottle today from Hollingshead's and it seems to be quite old. I was excited to give this one a shot after this thread but this bottle is sweet and malty with very little hop presence. It's unfortunate as I will continue to have a poor perception of Noble Ale Works until I come across a fresh bottle (which I won't know due to the lack of dates).

I see Evan Price is gettiing down at Noble...he got plenty of skills.... Noble ticked up a few pegs by adding him. Looking forward to trying more of his stuff in the future.

That happens to be the shop I was talking about. Bummer that you got an old bottle but thanks for the heads up.

Wow, bummer man. I have been drinking this for a couple weeks now, getting my bottles from WF. I had my last two nights ago and though the tell tale Citra notes had begun to fade from the nose the brew was nowhere over the hill. No sweet malt at all. Maybe you got a bottle that was not properly stored ? I'm done with it now until I know a super fresh batch is on the way because this was one of my biggest surprises of the year so far, loved it !

    Cheers....

Yeah I think it was just an old batch. Tasted of a 4 or 5 month old IPA. Hollingshead's doesn't have the best set up for storing their beers in their open fridge, seems like a good amount of light is on those bottles during the day. Oh well, maybe I'll swing by the Noble Ale tasting room soon and see if they've got a fresh batch. The brewery is about 5 minutes away from my house.

That's the thing about hollingsheads. They often have beers that other stores are out of because they are the most expensive and the last to sell out of fast moving beers. This also means they will be the least fresh. Add the light exposure and warmth and you've got a recipe for an IPA that has significantly dropped off. If you've really gotta have a particular beer though, they are the best bet. I'd recommend sticking with the draft beers there.

I'll take this over a Knuckle Sandwich everyday. This is more of a West Coast bad ass Double IPA, Knuckle reminds me of a hoppy Barleywine, bigger is not always better!

I have to agree with you. But then again I'm one of those who does not think Heady Topper is worth shit. Just my two cents.

    Cheers.......

Had some Nobility the other day. AWESOME. One of my favorite IPA's I've tasted recently. Very fresh and citrus-y.
