I was surprised that BA sexual chocolate or Event Horizon didn't take it

I think Columbus Bodhi is a nice sleeper pick for Ohio. The list isn't to be taken literally, just for fun. There are a bunch of OH beers that could've been chosen, but Bodhi truly is one of the best DIPAs I've ever had. It can hang with all of the badboys..

Im looking forward to Olde Rabbit's Foot this summer. I havent had an IPA from NC thats worth mentioning outside of Death by Hops (which is a bit of a stretch). CCB, Bell's, Great Lakes, RR, Founders, and Odell made much better IPAs. As a whole, Ohio makes better IPAs (Head Hunter, White Rajah, Commodore Perry, Columbus IPA/Bodhi, Weasel Boy Bitter Sable, Willoughby Moonshadow, and Hopin Frog Hop Heathen). than NC, but NC destroys OH in terms of stouts (Event Horizon, Lindley Park, Olde Rabbit's Foot, and Duck-Rabbit Milk Stout). But even thats arguable seeing as my home state of OH has BORIS, BA BORIS, Blackout/BA Blackout, and Siberian Night. NC offers Jade (ok good), Hoppyum (no), Hoppy Bunny (yes), Olde Hickory Death by Hops, and maybe--just maybe--Big Boss High Roller. NC beer has some great stuff, but they jsut havent figured out using hops enough to compete with the Midwest. Sorry guys.

Don't forget about Jackie O's stouts. Maumee Bay Total Eclipse Breakfast Stout is phenomenal. Fat Head's makes some killer stouts. The Brew Kettle Tunguska is pretty tasty too. But I can't really comment considering I've never had a stout from NC.. but I'm sure they're awesome.

I really missed out on OH stouts before I left the state, but NC stouts are so much better than their IPAs, but thats not hard to do. We grow our own hops, but Im not sure were 100% on how to use them perfectly yet.

PS i only commented on what ive had so far. ive only had the big IPAs and a few big stouts from OH.

I was just messin around. But it's funny though because just a few years Ohio was definitely more known for their stouts and not for their IPAs at all. The IPA in Ohio has come along way in a pretty short amount of time.

Georgias pick was pretty good. Wild Heavens Eschaton is pretty darn good. Draft only, which makes it hard for others have it, but I normally every month or two, have a growler of it in the fridge like I do now.

Great after dinner, and I'm not a huge Belgian drinker.. but this one is special.

I agree. Right brewery, wrong beer. Still a fantastic brew, but I would take ZeeLander, Psuedo Sue and Assassin over Golden Nugget and I could happily drink Golden Nugget all day.

I disagree with IL, WI and IN as well, but they're all good picks nonetheless.

How do you sort by state? I like to know how they got the info. anyone, I see these lists but its not by state.
must be a good trick of URL coding?

I can't argue with Texas' pick. Live Oak Hef is top notch!

Rhode Island is beyond whack. The beer we produce can't hold a candle to the beer produced in other New England States. Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Mass. are schooling us. It's sad.

I write for that blog (I didn't compose this list), and I can say it spurred some interesting discussion to be sure. Just reading through all of these comments made me chuckle a few times---the data was basically all drawn from BA scores; we're on the BA forum, but there were still a few folks somehow thinking that the list was just a ranking of the poster's personal tastes.

That might be one of the most unflinching rules of the internet--if you write a list that is gathered from other people's data, no matter how clearly you make the point in your preamble, people will assume it's all your own opinion. It seems to be impossible to avoid. Oh well.

I was looking at how awesome the beers picked from the other New England states compared to the one picked for RI. They are MUCH better.

Gotcha! Sorry to hear RI beer is under-par - at least you're surrounded by other states with better beer!

" Generally, when I do these kinds of “research projects”, I eliminate any beer that doesn’t have at least 10 reviews from one of those sites to eliminate the “small sample size” issue. I made that my cut-off here as well since it has worked fairly well in the past. "

This guy has is obviously oblivious to homerism and the hyping shananigans that go on here.

Edit: I read the next paragraph that addresses this. Looks like he has things in order.
