For those headed to the Elysian Great Pumpkin Beer Fest, don't forget your goblet at home. They are not selling the goblets at the fest as they have done in past years. If you don't bring your own, they only provide the tasting glasses this year. I, of course, didn't bring my goblet from last year. And for those wondering, my favorite on Friday afternoon was the Cambridge Brett Sematary Sour.
Is this just for this year? I have never been but plan to either next year or the year after. Those gobblets are a must have.
I don't think it needs to be an official Elysian goblet --- it's actually a tulip --- from previous years. I saw a number of people with their own goblets, etc.
WHA?! This will be my first year; really wanted a goblet. (I assume a goblet also meant bigger pours?)
They told me they did away with the Goblets because people got too drunk last year. My fav beer yesterday was Cascade Pumpkin Smash Sour ale. I was hoping to get Avery Rumpkin, but with the secret rotating specials I never did see it.
Had pretty much every beer I was hoping for and I'm glad I didn't have my bigger glass. 4oz of rumkin was 3oz too much. Need a nap so bad... Guoulship was by far the best beer of the event. Wow. Saw a lot of you today jpbebeau, lazerlobe, Julian, etc
They pulled out a case of 12oz rumpkin bottles at about 9:30 on Friday night and did bottle pours. NB/Elysian Kick took the crown for me.
Damn, I left at 9! go figure... I had been there since 4 and couldn't really drink anymore at that point since I had to drive home anyways. Having a 18% beer probably wouldn't have been a good idea. Oh well, maybe next year.
Yesterday I got Ghoulschip, Rumpkin and Russian River Pumpkin (which is still horrible) right before we left. Rumpkin was good, but I shared my pour with five other people because it was so incredibly boozy. My favorite of the day was definitely Fremont's Bourbon Barrel Barleywine. Had some nice coconut, cinnamon and pumpkin flavor.
I missed Rumpkin again this year. I was in line for it, but it was gone before I reached the front. Plenty of other good pumpkin beers though. If I had to pick a favorite it would be Almanac's Pumpkin Barleywine. I wish we could get the bottles up here. So tasty.
