. . . Or at least, as of last night around 10:00 PM. At Beachwood BBQ & Brewing in Long Beach, CA, even though it does not show up on the "HopCam" live draft list camera feed on their website. We had a full firkin of this completely wonderful beer-- Alesmith Brewer's Blend Barrel-Aged Speedway Stout, to be precise-- at yesterday's 7th Annual Woodshop Tasting, and the leftovers remained on at Beachwood, available for $7.50 for a 10-ounce pour. The beer was drinking absolutely phenomenally, if I do say so myself, and because of the gentle nature of cask beer, I wanted to spread word for people to seek it out and continue enjoying it as soon as possible until the remainder of the cask is gone. No telling how long it will last, but I'd say it's worth a special trip on its own. It would just be a damn shame if any of that beer went to waste or did not get consumed quickly enough for it to be enjoyed at its peak of flavor and freshness, just because nobody knew about the "secret" cask. So I say, "Go get it!" And if you happen to try it with some Panama Esmeralda Geisha coffee, cold-steeped in your glass for about 10 minutes..... Whoa. Insane. Extremely highly recommended. Probably the single best thing I tasted during a weekend chock full of incredible food and drink.
Or come in on Wednesday and I'll be there. We can talk about Woodshop hangover uses and any port Woodshop craziness you want to tell me about.
I'll go check it out tomorrow, haven't had BA Speedway since I purchased at bottle at the source in 2008.
rushed back from out of town to get this!! Had it tonight!! One of the best beer i ever had!!! top 3!! fuckin amazing!
By the way, just to be clear. . . The beer is actually the BREWER'S BLEND Barrel-Aged Speedway, which means it is Bourbon Barrel-aged, and then it has "regular" Speedway blended back in, to taste. And then it's cask-conditioned. And then it's awesome. Here is the link to the listing on BA, for those who want to tick it: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/396/72055
