In the past it was "here's the email, you have 2-3 days to buy it before the public".

If it wasn't Alesmith, I'd be hesitant. They don't strike out often with the Speedway variants.

Yep. Me too. Gotta make use of this donation I guess even though I keep telling myself (AKA my wife keeps telling me) that I need to buy less beer. This was all much easier before I moved to San Diego.

I drank it back on friday. But this is what I got from friday's tasting and saturday's tasting.

All flavors are present (chocolate, cinnamon, tequila barrel, coffee). Not one flavor overpowered any other. My palate picked up more cinnamon with very feint chocolate notes. The tequila barrel was present but basically very mild the entire time, you just knew you weren't drinking a bourbon barrel or brandy barrel. I was scared it would be offensive but it wasn't at all. When warmed the tequila came through a bit more which took me back to those really bad college days. So for me this is one I will drink cold.

Friends and I always use PNC to compare any other tequila barrel-aged beer since we feel that is the best representation and this one was damn close.

If you were on the fence at all, Alesmith nailed it using tequila barrels for the first time. If you are looking for a speedway to dominate the mexican stout style then you will need to keep looking. The flavors aren't as heavily pronounced as say a huna or abraxas. They all just work really well together.

I was going to get 4 bottles for myself anyways but the preview tastings made it become a no-brainer.

Rad, thanks for the detail. I was on the fence and will probably shoot to land one in an IP trade to avoid a drive to SD and picking up the max. I personally disliked PNC but I have only had it on tap in the Barrelworks room and bottles are always a little different (though I think I disliked the buckwheat, not the tequila). I think I am still on the hunt for a true west coast Huna/Cake.

Will be interesting to see how this compares to Bottle Logic's Leche Borracho.

Entirely different beasts. Bottle Logic adjunct stouts are basically full of adjuncts and not really beer (hehehe). This one is beer with subtle flavors. Also Alesmith's doesn't have chilis. They considered adding it but held back since they felt there was already enough adjuncts in it. However during the release party day there is suppose to be a chili'd up speedway through randall.

I feel like your alesmith reviews and @Xul in the modern times thread are like insider trading for the trade value of their respective bottle releases
I'll have one to trade if you want to lock this in now

Used my priority code today and locked in Mexi Speedway. Can't wait to see what else Alesmith has up their sleeves this year for Speedway releases!
